1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car on 2040-cars
East Meadow, New York, United States
Up for sale is my personal 1979 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL 4 DOOR COLLECTOR SERIES. The exterior is dark blue and the interior is dark blue leather. Drivetrain is a 6.6 400ci V8 with a C6 transmission. Luxuries include, power steering, power brakes, tilt wheel, air conditioning, power windows, power locks, dual power seats, cruise control, AM/FM 8 track, Cartier clock, Collector Series equipment which includes, color coded turbine wheels, gold emblems, grill, and stripes, port hole delete in the top, matching trunk carpet and complete tool kit.
I have recently gone through this whole car mechanically and have done, air filter and breather, oil and filter change, sparkplugs, cap, rotor, pcv, front and rear brakes, new headlight switch and headlight door actuator, brand new power antenna assembly. Inside I replaced and repaired the door lock actuators, left rear power window motor and track, replaced the fuel guage. I have installed a new Interstate battery last year with a battery store cutoff. I have just installed a new correct radiator. I have installed a new vinyl top and have detalied the car from top to bottom. It runs and drives like when it was brand new. I have the original owners manual and build sheet as I purchased it from the original owner. My best friend was the original owners aunt, I know this car since new. The body is really nice but does have a few rust bubbles mostly above the tail lights. It has a rust hole in the right rear lower quarter panel, and a few in the door jambs. The body was painted in the early 90s. The paint is really nice and shines beautifully but it is not show quality and has a few blemishes. The hood has acid rain stains but is really only noticeable in the garage under the flourescent lamps. All the trim is really nice. The interior is like new and I have purchased and installed the original floor mats since the picture was taken. The woodgrain on the steering wheel is a little faded. I replaced the rear package tray with new correct fabric. Underneath is all original and soild, normal surface rust but no holes anywhere. Has the normal oil sweating from sitting around, but nothing major. Also the muffler was just replaced. The air conditioning compressor needs a front seal as it leaks freon, it has been converted to 194A, it blows ICE COLD for the season but needs to be charged every year. Overall this is a beautiful driver quality car that gets lots of looks at the car shows and cruise nights. This car is nice enough to take anywhere, but not have to worry about enjoying it. I drive this car often when the weather allows, and is always garage kept. I purchased a car cover to keep the dust off while in the garage, it has a few tears from the car being so big, but will include it in the sale, along with a few 8 track tapes I have for it. I change the oil once a year, and have a bunch of extra filters I will include also. I have tried to describe this car the best as I remember sitting here typing this. Car is able to be viewed and driven if desired. I am selling it because i just purchased a new GMC truck, and would like to keep it in the garage. Please dont waste my time, I wont waste yours. Please ask all questions before bidding. Check my feedbacks and bid with confidence. Buyer is responsible for shipping charges, but will help anyway possible to make transaction go smoothly.. Thanks for looking and good luck. |

Lincoln reveals MKC compact crossover ahead of LA debut [w/video]
Wed, 13 Nov 2013It used to be that if you wanted a luxury SUV, you had to go big. Just look at the first high-riders released by some of the major luxury automakers - Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX - and you'll see what we mean. But since 2009 the small premium crossover segment has grown a whopping 200 percent, so it's no surprise that each has followed up with smaller luxury crossovers. And this is the latest.
At the other end of the utility spectrum from the Navigator, the new Lincoln MKC is based on the Ford Escape (much as the old pseudo-premium Mercury Mariner was), but completely rebodied and luxed up to put it in another league. Although we're still not sold on Lincoln's family fascia, the grille treatment on the MKC is certainly one of the better variations on the theme to date. The Dart-like rear lights dominate the wrap-around tailgate, and the overall shape looks taut and upscale. The same can be said of the dynamically-designed interior, taking the concept revealed in Detroit earlier this year to production fairly seamlessly.
Power will come from a choice of EcoBoost four-cylinder engines with turbocharging and direct injection: a 2.0-liter with 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, or a slightly punchier new 2.3-liter with 275 hp and 300 lb-ft. Lincoln didn't disclose what transmission they'll be mated to, but did note that the MKC carries the brand's "signature" push-button gear shifter. It comes standard in front drive, but buyers who upgrade to all-wheel drive (or tick the right box) will also benefit from a new adaptive suspension Lincoln calls Continuously Controlled Damping. Other features include an approach-detection system that lights the car up and projects a Lincoln "welcome mat" on the pavement when you get close to the car, and a "bread-crumbing" feature that lets you track where your vehicle has been.
Ford's Jim Farley hints at Lincoln sales rebound
Thu, 25 Apr 2013If you're a fan of Lincoln, get ready for "a really great story" come May 1. That's how Ford marketing boss Jim Farley, in a call with analysts, characterized the coming April sales report for the MKZ. At the moment, there are probably few things that the executive VP could want more than a happy ending for the ballyhooed sedan that has made people cry boo-hoo for the past six months.
The massive glass roof of the MKZ is trying to support a burden that would make Atlas tap out, and it hasn't shattered, but it has shown a few cracks. The car we called "a big step in the right direction," the embodiment of the reinvention of the brand and a test of Lincoln's commitment to a new rear-wheel drive offering was given an $8-million dollar Super Bowl ad spend earlier this year, then quality control issues during its assembly scuttled deliveries. Lincoln got over that and kept up the ad blitz, now it just wants the good work to take hold.
If Farley's not leading us on, April could be the month. He said the results (so far) show "the product is being very well-received," inventory is finally where it should be and the MKZ Hybrid is doing better than expected. It bears noting that Lincoln is offering some aggressive incentive programs at the moment, including 0.9-percent APR and $1,000 off for conquest buyers stepping out of competitors' vehicles.
Lincoln MKC Concept shows real promise [w/video]
Sun, 13 Jan 2013Ford's efforts to resuscitate its moribund Lincoln luxury brand began in earnest with the introduction of its 2014 MKZ sedan, a model many labeled as the marque's make-or-break offering. Of course, one model does not a comeback make, and with the MKZ just now starting to trickle into dealers, it will be some time before America's jury of consumers comes in with their judgment. More to the point, it's likely to take better than a decade's worth of products and sustained marketing effort to even begin to figure out whether Lincoln has a shot at redemption or if it will die of Mercury poisoning. After all, rival General Motors has been pouring resources into Cadillac since the late '90s, and if the sales charts are any guidance, it's still probably too early to declare its rebirth a success.
Certainly, a brand with Ford's resources, free of distractions (read: the now-defunct Premier Auto Group and various other side projects) should be able to successfully market a single luxury brand, particularly one with such a rich - if distant - history. Especially now with the Blue Oval enjoying more consumer goodwill than at any time in recent history. So let's all give Alan Mulally and friends a little room to work, eh?
We can start by focusing on the compact crossover seen before you, the Lincoln MKC Concept. Riding atop the same global C-platform that underpins the Ford C-Max, Escape and Focus, the MKC showcar here presages a production small CUV that will stick its distinctive nose into one of the auto industry's fastest-growing segments.
