This is a Beautiful and Very Rare 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe. It is a very low mileage car with only 65,905 original miles. The Town Coupe is the rarest of all the Continentals and Town Cars. The Town Coupe was one of the biggest coupe ever produced in the world. At 233 inches long with a 127 inch wheel base it is the king of the road. The Town Coupe glides down the road with one of the smoothest rides ever produced. This car anywhere I take it people give it thumbs up and love to take pictures with it. Its from a different Era when America still knew how to build a beautiful luxury car.

Now for this specific 1978 Continental Town Coupe I will try to describe it with the most detail I can. To begin with it only has 65,905 miles and was one owner for just about all its life. This beautiful Lincoln runs and drives great. I just had the brake line replaced the whole way running to the rear and the brake system flushed and bled. The brakes are firm and perfect now. The exhaust system was replaced a few years ago and is still like new on the car. The car starts up every time regardless if is it cold or hot. The car runs really smooth and does not overheat or smoke. This Town Coupe has the 6.6 liter V-8 engine. The car has been on the highway many times and will cruise at any speed with no issues at all. It also has no problems sitting in stop and go traffic. It is a great running classic Lincoln.

The exterior on this Continental Town Coupe is a rare and beautiful burgundy metallic color. With a burgundy vinyl soft top in great shape. The paint does have some flaws as shown in the pictures. It is the original paint so in the past 36 years it has picked up some chips and nicks and a few spots of minor rust. I took pictures of everything that I noticed on the car. But overall the car is still very beautiful on the out side and these small blemishes could easily be touched up. The paint still shines great and has no fade. The soft top is not dried out nor is it faded or cracked it is in great shape and the paint on the metal half of the roof is flawless as well. With the exception of one spot on the rear bumper all the chrome and bright work is shiny and in great shape. The underside of the car is solid and no rot at all. All the glass is clear and not milky cracked or chipped. It has the original hubcaps and they are in perfect shape as well.

The interior is simply flawless and beautiful. It is all original and a beautiful red color and still bright and vibrant. The seats are velour with the pillow top style. They have the original Lincoln embroidery in the seats and it looks beautiful. There are no tears, stains or wear on any of the seats. The carpet is not worn and it is not stained. The dash has no cracks at all and all the interior trim is perfect too. Everything and I mean everything works as it should. The original radio, power antenna, lights, power seats, cruise control, gauges and wipers all work great.

This is such a beautiful and rare classic Lincoln that I hate to sell it but I have to shirk my collection and I simply can not keep this beautiful car. I have tried to describe everything in as much detail as I can. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Also, the car does have a clean and clear title.

Lincoln to adopt Mini-like personalization strategy?

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

There's no single silver bullet that will cure all that ails the Lincoln brand, and Ford knows that just as surely as we do. Coming out with exciting new models like the well-received MKC crossover counts as several steps in the right direction, assuming of course that the production version is as appealing as the concept just shown at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, but more is needed. According to Jim Farley, executive vice president of Lincoln, one more trick may be "mass customization."
Put another way, Lincoln is considering ways to allow buyers to customize their new vehicles right off the showroom floor, similar to how things are done at Mini, and, to a lesser extent, Scion, where Farley previously served as corporate manager. Imagine, for instance, ordering a new MKC with a large Lincoln insignia embossed into the leather seatbacks, according to Automotive News.
While we're not so sure anybody is all that interested in paying extra for more Lincoln logos, it's a strategy that has proven rather fruitful at Mini. Only time will tell if Ford's erstwhile luxury division will once again be seen as something truly worth reaching for, and if customers are willing to pay a further premium for customization.

What will the next Presidential limo look like?

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.

Ford recalling 205k Edge and Lincoln MKX units for possible corrosion

Thu, 30 Oct 2014

After the horrible weather last winter, it's hard to look forward for the season to return this year. For those readers in much of the country, the snow is going to be flying soon, and with it comes salt on the roads. That means Ford's regional recall for the 2007-2008 Edge and Lincoln MKX arrives at the perfect time because they are at risk for corrosion.
The campaign covers 204,448 examples of the models in 21 states, plus the District of Columbia and some provinces of Canada. In total there are 186,024 vehicles in need of repair in the US and 18,424 in Canada.
According to Ford, it's possible for the area, "under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" to corrode. If this happens, there might be a gas smell in the vehicle or even a fuel leak could develop. In fact, the automaker reports that one fire could be related to the problem but no injuries or accidents are reported.
