1997 LX450 with Factory Lockers and Only 117,000 Miles!

I purchased this LX450 from a dealer in Alabama, and had it shipped to Arizona. I am the forth owner, and it has a clean Carfax.

I have owned it for six months and have spent a lot of dollars and man hours and have turned this into what I believe to be one of the nicest LX450’s out there.

Interior:

All new leather on all 3 rows of seats, and arm rest from Metric TLC $1450.00

New leather steering wheel Metric TLC $440.00

All original carpets and floor mats shampooed and cleaned

New Cobra CB with custom antenna mount and 3’ firestik$150.00

CDL Switch $80.00

Idle control knob $60.00

JDM dash cup holder $60.00

Brand new Toyota tool bag and tools $125.00

Ice Cold AC

Interior is better than new and is a 10!

Exterior:

Brand new Toyo Open Country 2 tires 285/75/16 even the spare! $1100.00

New Rocky Road rock rails. $700.00

New Curt hitch and wiring. $200.00

Power Antenna rebuilt. $40.00

New LX450 Emblem across tail gate $60.00

Exterior is nice and a 7 on the scale. Has good shine with a few scratches, dents and stone chips etc. All body panels are original and so is all paint, except the front bumper. I tried to show in the pictures the dents and scratches.

Mechanical:

Here is where a lot of money was spent.

Head rebuilt, milled, valves ground pressure tested, all new seals. $465.00

New head gasket, all new coolant hoses, new radiator, new fuel pressure reg., new plugs, cap, wires, new fuel filter, fuel injectors tested and cleaned, all new vacuum lines, new EGR system all passages cleaned. All Toyota parts $2500.00

Upper pan gasket, arches, new lower pan gasket, rear main seal, front axle knuckle rebuild, both drive shafts rebuilt All Toyota parts $2800.00

All fluids flushed and changed, Toyota red antifreeze, Toyota Syn. blend oil. Valvolene gear oils. $300.00

All 4 brake rotors and pads drilled and slotted power stops $400.00

Factory Lockers work as they should, and I added the CDL switch.

This LX has no drips, no codes passed AZ emissions testing, runs great. Mechanical is a 10!

Misc:

I started the onboard air (OBA) install and have the compressor mounted and being driven, but have not finished, I have most of the parts to complete (see engine pic) $800.00

Dual battery set up, I have relocated the washer bottle SleeKit) and have the passenger side Toyota battery box, up to you to finish $180.00

I have all the receipts to support what I state, and the buyer will get copies for their records. It has 117,700 miles, box Aclear AZ title in my name ready to go.

I did not lift it because I prefer the stock ride, but really a lift is the only thing left to do on this LX450.

I am asking $16800.00, this does not cover what I have in it, as you can see I have close to $12,000 just in the work that has been done, not including the $7500.00 I paid for it.

Please don’t waist our time with low ball offers! I would like to sell so I can move onto another project I just bought, but I am in no hurry or real need to sell. If you are serious and have cash let’s talk.

Lexus GX has quietly more than doubled its sales this year

Sat, 26 Jul 2014

There are some things in this industry that we're perplexed by, like the infotainment system on our long-term Subaru WRX or why the Mitsubishi Mirage is allowed to exist, among other things. Let's add one more to that group, with the Lexus GX. It's not a particularly bad vehicle for a big, body-on-frame brute, remaining one of the only true SUVs in the mid-size luxury class, alongside the equally old fashioned Land Rover LR4.
Considering these things, then, what we're about to tell you makes very little sense - sales are up 135 percent through last month. The Japanese luxury marque has moved over 5,300 during the first six months of 2014, owing in no small part to a significant price drop over the 2013 model. Today, a GX starts at $49,085, while a year ago, it was $53,445.
Don't mistake this price decrease for charity, though. Lexus specifically built a lower-cost GX to lure in customers. According to WardsAuto, faux leather covers the cabin rather than the real stuff, while the overall package is decontented relative to what you might find in a typical Lexus.

Production Lexus NX leaked in Jim Lentz presentation?

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Before kicking off the Detroit Auto Show, the Society of Automotive Analysts had Toyota CEO Jim Lentz come on stage to say some words about the future of the auto industry, as well as what's coming for Toyota. While this type of information would normally stay off our radar, a video of his speech likely gives us our first look - albeit low-res - at the production version of the Lexus NX compact crossover.
In the video recorded by AmericaJR, Lentz refers to the turbocharged LF-NX Concept that was on display at the Tokyo Motor Show, but comparing this image to our gallery from Tokyo, there are clear differences between the two vehicles. These include the toned-down shape of the spindle grille, lower fascia crease and door mirrors as well as a headlight design that more closely resembles that of the 2014 IS sedan and the newly introduced RC coupe. From what we can see of the rest of this image, the NX should retain some of the LF-NX's angular side body creases. The vehicle you see above basically looks ready for production.
If this is in fact the NX, then reports of a Geneva debut for the luxury crossover seem even more accurate. The entire video is posted below, but the NX comes on screen around the 10:40 mark.

2013 Lexus IS F

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

Sometimes fortune really smiles on even shiftless car-reviewing Dutchmen like myself, I must admit. I had come into Austin, TX the week before I was supposed to meet up with the good people at Lexus, who had graciously invited me to drive the 2014 IS. I flew in early because Austin is a pretty good place to eat, as well as being a place that my wife doesn't live. Let me say that a nicer way... while my stunningly attractive wife pretty much represents all things good and light in this world, she does occasionally shoot me a sideways glance when I dig in for my fifth Tacodeli breakfast taco. Thankfully, I leave most of my good sense and information about the effects of high-calorie diets on lifespan at home with Molly when I come to Texas, so I can better focus my laser-like attention on car reviews and TexMex. You guys are worth it.
Aside from all the tacos, I was also lucky to be visiting town the weekend before South By Southwest really kicked off in earnest, because it was that Sunday that my good old buddy John, and my new old buddy Pat, were headed up to the Circuit of the Americas to see the first ever SCCA Majors event there. It was lucky that I had planned to be out at CotA, which is east of Austin, because that made it very slightly easier for a very nice woman named Marcia to bring me a 2013 Lexus IS F from Houston, roughly 150 miles away.
Marcia brought me the IS F to replace another press car, which was having mechanical troubles; I didn't ask for the fire-breathing IS but when it was offered up I figured I couldn't do much better as a warm up for the 2014 IS program I was about to go on. See, lucky right?
