1986 Land Rover Defender 90 pick-up truck. Righthand drive legally imported into the US with a clean Wisconsin title.

Unique Competition Certified Off Road Land Rover from Europe -- full under chassis skid plates, heavy duty steering arms, Salisbury rear axle, full roll cage, battery and fuel shutoff system (disconnected), heavy-duty recovery rings, pintle hitch, rock sliders, rear bumper sliders, sealed fuel cell, high-mount brake lights and more.

I purchased this vehicle off eBay a couple of years ago where it was listed in "pristine" condition. Unfortunately it is nowhere near pristine – it has dents and dings in numerous locations including what appears to be a body-filled section in the driver's rear truck bed panel. It has a dented tailgate where it comes down on the pintle hitch if you're not careful. Otherwise the body is relatively clean and rust-free. Very cool and fun truck with a 4.2 liter V8 engine and 5-speed manual transmission. Odometer shows 77,XXX miles but I can't vouch for the accuracy. It is in miles, not kilometers. Very dependable and great driver. Easily cruises 60 MPH on the highway. Interior is decent, seats are very nice, no holes, seam is separating on the back of the driver seat in one area. Starts, runs, drives and stops as it should. I have had no problems with this truck and drive it 2-3 times per week in the summer. Tires are the original European retreads. A nice set of radials would probably go a long way to improving the ride, but I liked the look of the originals. The frame is solid – some areas of rust starting in the back near the rear bumper, but still very good.

The truck is a 1986, but eBay wouldn't recognize the VIN (SALLDVAD7AA241754) unless I changed it to be pre-1981.

Can be seen and driven in Three Lakes, Wisconsin.

Jaguar Land Rover creates new Special Operations division for halo vehicles, bespoke commissions

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that a new division of the British manufacturer will be dedicated to "bespoke commissions," as well as heritage products and apparel. Oh, and the new Special Operations division will also be behind JLR's halo cars from now on.
It's that last one that is the most tantalizing, as the last real halo product to see production from Jaguar was the XJ220. The Range Rover, meanwhile, has always had its own kind of halo reputation, although the Land Rover brand itself has never really gotten into the game with a dedicated model.
According to JLR, the new halo models will focus on ultra-high performance and luxury with a limited run of vehicles. The bespoke models, meanwhile, will give the wealthiest customers full sway over how vehicles are outfitted, with unique paints, trims and other accessories. The new SpecOps division will be run by John Edwards.

Jaguar-Land Rover builds millionth vehicle at Halewood

Fri, 29 Nov 2013

Jaguar-Land Rover is not what you'd call a volume automaker by any stretch of the imagination. But in the dozen years since it started manufacturing at its Halewood plant near Liverpool, England, the automaker has already built its millionth vehicle.
The landmark vehicle is a Range Rover Evoque, done up in white with red roof and mirrors, black wheels and a red and black interior. The crossover is set to be donated to Cancer Research UK, which will auction it off next year to help fund its projects in the north-west of the country.
Halewood started manufacturing the Jaguar X-Type in 2001, then went on to assemble the Land Rover LR2 / Freelander 2 before taking on production of the Evoque a year and a half ago. The facility reached the 300,000-unit milestone just last year as production moved to a 24-hour cycle for the first time in either marque's history.

Jaguar Land Rover says key models in short supply, some have six-month wait lists

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

Care for a bit more proof that the Jaguar Land Rover portfolio of vehicles is the best it's ever been? Well, the Indian-owned pair of brands saw a record year in 2013, while 2014 has seen a 14-percent increase in sales. The crazy thing is, though, is that figure could be even higher, provided the company had the production capacity.
JLR is running a six-month waiting list on two of its most popular models, the Range Rover Sport (above) and Range Rover. According to Mark White, the company's chief technologist for body engineering, the blame can be placed on the paint shop at the company's Solihull factory, in the UK.
"We will probably max out the paint shop before we max out the body shop. Putting the second body shop in has given us the flexibility to ebb and flow the different models that go through there and meet the capacity demands we've got," White told Automotive News. "However, you always hit a bottleneck somewhere. And the paint shop is probably going to be the next biggest obstacle."
