'Boy Wonder of Supercar Sales' talks Lamborghini
Thu, 03 Oct 2013Brett David has a pretty darn good life. At 26 years old, he's the CEO of Prestige Imports in Miami, which puts him at the wheel of the largest Lamborghini dealership in the US. Prestige also happens to have moved more Audis than any other dealer in three years.
CNBC's Squawk Box had him on for a sitdown in a segment it called "Secret Lives of the Super Rich," where the network highlighted the burgeoning demand for Lamborghinis. Besides talking about the recession-proof Lambo market and his new-age clientele, David explained how he sold his first Lamborghini. At 17. To Missy Elliot. The whole video is really worth a watch, which you can do by scrolling down.
Lamborghini Veneno Roadster stands in for fighter jet aboard Italian carrier
Tue, 03 Dec 2013How do you draw even more attention to $4.47 million hypercar? Placing it atop an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf ought to do the trick, as Lamborghini has demonstrated with the live reveal of the new Veneno Roadster on the flight deck of the Italian Navy's Cavour.
Docked in the port of Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, the 787-foot flat-top is being used as a floating showcase of Italian products, with Lamborghini chosen to represent the automotive industry. A fitting location to unveil a roadster that looks like the half-breed lovechild of a fighter jet and a Le Mans racer, particularly since Sant'Agata is bound to find in the Emirates a buyer for at least one of the nine Veneno Roadsters it will produce.
"We are honored that Lamborghini was chosen to represent the Italian car industry in the UAE, as a perfect example of iconic Italian super sports cars, and that we have the opportunity to show the Veneno Roadster for the first time in Abu Dhabi, said Lamborghini chief Stephan Winkelmann. "Lamborghini has an extremely strong following in the region for its super sports cars, with the Middle East one of our largest markets in the world." Turn up the Kenny Loggins and ride into the danger zone with photos from the event in the gallery above and the press release below.
Lamborghini may offer rear-drive Huracan
Wed, 20 Aug 2014Lamborghini may not offer a manual-transmission option on the new Huracán - so few customers were asking for it on the preceding Gallardo as it was - but don't think that it won't pursue ever more hardcore variants. And that will reportedly include a rear-drive version.
Speaking with journalists at the Pebble Beach unveiling of the new Huracán Super Trofeo, Lamborghini CEO Stefan Winkelmann is reported to have said, "We did it with the Gallardo so it might be an option. We are a four-wheel-drive super-sports car [manufacturer] but why should we not do a rear-drive option?"
The rear-drive Huracán would naturally shed a few pounds off the all-wheel-drive version's curb weight, but the question is just how much. There is said to have only been so much of the AWD system that Sant'Agata was able to strip out of the Gallardo to make the rear-drive Balboni edition after the fact, but if the Huracán was engineered from the get-go for both drivetrains, the rear-drive version could prove that much more thrilling to drive.
