1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer *121k Miles on 2040-cars

I've owned this Jeep for nearly 10 years and HATE to get rid of it.  Bought it on eBay in Washington DC and returning full circle to eBay to sell.  Kids are getting big and keeping me busy and I just don't have time to drive it anymore, perhaps only a few times last year.
I'm not a car dealer but will describe it as best as I can - Please ask questions.

It starts and runs STRONG (Note: It does not get the same fuel efficiency as a 'Smart Car' - And unlike those goofy 'plug-in electric cars' it likes GAS, a lot)
It has always had a few strange electronic issues that I've never bothered to fix - both dash-lights blink when the signal is on, and the fuel gauge occasionally does not register - So I always fill it up so as not to run out of gas. The rear lift gate window literally just stopped working and one of the back windows is stuck.  Otherwise, the driver and passenger side windows operate smoothly, all electronics function, new after-market CD radio, Air blows strong.  Carpets are original and in decent shape however the drivers seat has cracks (see photo).  It will need a new head-liner.  The outside shows wear - There is some oxidation on the hood (see photo) and there are pockets of rust on the rockers that I've patched (but should be addressed) and rust on the under-carriage.

Parts I've replaced in the last 10k miles:
It has great tires (only 2k miles on them)
Rebuilt carburetor
Rebuilt exhaust
Radiator
Water pump
Starter

It passed its last NJ State Inspection but I've since taken it off the road.  Essentially start it every other day to keep the engine parts moving.

I will miss this Jeep - It's served me well and my kids love it too. I hope whoever purchases it will enjoy it as much as we have..

Thanks for looking and please ask questions.
Chris

100,000 Jeep Cherokee models subject to further 9-speed recalibration

Thu, 29 May 2014

It seems that the software problems with the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the Jeep Cherokee continue to mount. The programming already caused multiple development delays and even postponed the Cherokee's market launch by roughly two months. Now, Jeep has issued another recalibration to hopefully assuage unhappy drivers.
According to Automotive News, this reflash for the allegedly jerky transmission covers over 100,000 Cherokees built before May 5, but it's not technically a recall. If owners are having problems and complain to the dealer, they get the new software. Otherwise, they continue with the current version. New vehicles on dealer lots also receive the latest revision to the programming. It takes only around five minutes to install, but technicians need to take the Cherokee on a test drive to adapt the gearbox to the changes.
The Cherokee's transmission software has been problematic practically since the beginning. The Jeep plant in Toledo, OH, briefly idled its second-shift workers last year to take care of the issue. Since the launch issues for the crossover, demand has been strong. Jeep added another 1,000 temporary workers to the Toledo factory to keep up, and sales were on par with the Wrangler in just its first two months.

Marchionne: Midsize pickup still not in the cards; Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler could use aluminum

Wed, 07 May 2014

During the Fiat-Chrysler briefings on Tuesday, Reid Bigland, head of Ram Trucks, outlined the new product plans for his brand, including confirmation that an all-new light-duty Ram 1500 will launch in 2017. From there, discussions spun off in two directions, with the main questions being: will Ram build a midsize pickup? And, following Ford's move to extensively use aluminum in its new 2015 F-150, will Chrysler be using this weight-saving material for the next round of its fullsize truck, as well?
"I think there is room for a Ram 1000," Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne (pictured above) told members of the media, saying this is a conversation the automaker has been having internally for several years now. "We've tried this ... we've actually taken it to clinics," Marchionne stated, adding that the "response has been lukewarm."
"I have better use of aluminum in this house than a pickup truck." - Sergio Marchionne

Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.
