1971 Jeep Cj5 Renegade Ii on 2040-cars
Petersburg, Indiana, United States
I am listing this jeep for my brother. Up for sale is his 1971 jeep cj5 renegade II. This jeep is in original condition. Has original orange paint. Paint shows very well considering it is 43 years old. My brother purchased this jeep from the original owners nephew four years ago. Jeep was originally purchased in North Carolina by original owner. His nephew (second owner) took ownership upon his passing. This jeep has the extremely rare Renegade II package witch was only made in 71. The history of the Renegade II can be found on the early cj5 website. Pics and data can be found there. Only around 600 were made. This jeep has original factory aluminum slot wheels that came with the Renegade package including the spare wheel and tire. Tire is original goodyear polyglass suburbinite. Also original 225 Buick Oddfire engine, original three speed transmission. Jeep comes with a bikini top only. Jeep has always been garage kept. Only rust is on rear of drivers fender and very small spot on driver floor board. These spots are very minor but just listing to be clear on condition. These spots can be seen in the pictures. Jeep runs and drives good for its age and being original parts. Even has original motorola alternator. My brother did have to replace original radiator. This jeep would be very easily restored or great left original for a collector. Jeep is located in southern Indiana 30min north of Evansville. Jeep is sold as is no warranty. $500 deposit due in my pay pal account within 48 hours of end of auction. If you would like more information on this rare survivor please call my brother at (812) 766-0229 and ask for Matt. Thanks for taking a look.

Jeep rear-mounted fuel tank controversy
Jeep Wrangler gets the wide-track treatment
Mon, 07 Jan 2013When we read the tip about a Gulf-state diplomat in Rabat, Morocco who had supposedly "merged two Jeep Wranglers," we figured the two off-roaders were somehow linked front-to-back. Oh no. As you can see in the image above, taken from video of that vehicle actually traveling down the road and needing more than one lane to do it, the two Jeeps were put together side-by-side.
The seriously widebody truck is said to have six wheels, one at each corner and two in the middle. That's about all anyone seems to know about it at the moment, and that's probably enough - in these situations you know better than to ask why, just watch the video below.
Jeep Liberty replacement takes shape
Wed, 16 Jan 2013Now that the Liberty has left us for greener pastures, it's time to start looking into the future of the midsize Jeep model. The next all-new vehicle for the off-road brand will be the SUV you see here, effectively replacing the Liberty, and not necessarily carrying on with that name.
From the sides, the prototype you see here sort of looks like a miniature version of the handsome Grand Cherokee, albeit with a bit more in the way of body sculpting. Up front, the seven-slat grille will be front and center, with completely revised headlamp designs that are reportedly angular and sweep well into the front fenders (you can sort of see what we're talking about in the side profile). That doesn't sound very Jeep-like, but we'll reserve judgment until we, you know, see the thing.
The bigger question with the Liberty replacement will be whether or not its off-road chops will be up to snuff. After all, the two previous generations of Liberty models were body-on-frame traditional SUVs, whereas this new Jeep rides on a larger version of the Dodge Dart platform.
