1991 Jeep XJ. The motor (4.0 inline six cylinder) was rebuilt about 5yrs ago. The transmission was rebuilt in October 2011, at that time the jeep received all new injectors, new fuel pump, a new fuel filter and nerf bars. I also had the transfer case all checked out and fluid changed at the time of the transmission rebuild. In September I put new brakes all the way around including rotors, drums, and a complete emergency brake assembly. When the brakes were done, I also put a new exhaust (including catalytic converter), new alternator, and serpentine belt on the vehicle at that time. The Jeep was painted 6yrs ago, but it was painted with single stage paint and could use another paint job. It has a 3.5 inch rough country lift kit. It is a full suspension kit with stabilizer shock. It has all new u-joints all the way around. I had the transfer case oil changed back when the transmission was rebuilt. Oh and I put a new windshield in last year. The vehicle has less than 10,000 miles on it since all this work has been done. The interior of the vehicle is in good shape for a '91. The seats aren't all ripped up and function as they should. The headliner and sun visors have been replace and are in new condition. The jeep has a stereo system worth approximately $1,200.00 but the capacitor that stores power has shorted out and needs replaced. Stereo still works and has two amps under the back seat. One 1000w for the subs and one 200w for the tweeters. The system sounds really nice when functioning as it should. The capacitor could be bypassed as it is only used to store power to keep the headlights from dimming as the bass hits. It has two rhino 12" subs in a box. I gave $600.00 for just those speakers. I have invested over $13,500 in the vehicle over the past 8 years. There are so many more new parts I haven't mention. If you are looking for a reliable vehicle, this is it! I have most of the invoices for the work that was done and the buyer will get the invoices. Only reason I'm selling is to purchase a compact tractor with a loader. Vehicle is for sell locally and is for pick up only. NO SHIPPING

Chrysler recalling hundreds of thousands of Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander SUVs
Wed, 23 Jul 2014The public might associated ignition switch recalls with General Motors - and with good cause - but that's not the only automaker calling its vehicles back in to fix that sort of issue.
Last month we reported that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was investigating an array of Chrysler Group vehicles for electrical-related safety issues. The administration and Chrysler subsequently issued a recall for 700,000 Dodge Journey crossovers, Dodge Grand Caravan minivans and Chrysler Town & Country minivans. But while the Jeeps that were also under investigation were not covered in that recall, they are being addressed in a separate one now.
Although Chrysler reports that it is only aware of a single accident stemming from this issue, it is "committing now to conduct a recall out of an abundance of caution." The recall affects the 2006-2007 Jeep Commander and 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, of which it reports there are 792,300 on the road: 649,900 in the United States, 28,800 in Canada, 12,800 in Mexico and a further 100,800 outside of North America.
Jeep Cherokee won't get diesel until sales of oil-burning Grand Cherokee improve
Tue, 01 Jul 2014Okay Jeep fans, you want more diesel options? Time to step up and prove it. The only way Jeep will offer a diesel powerplant in the Cherokee, according to brand head Mike Manley, is if sales of the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel nearly double.
Currently, about eight percent of the Grand Cherokees sold feature the 3.0-liter, EcoDiesel V6. That's simply not enough to warrant the bringing an oil-burning Cherokee to the US market, despite the vehicle's presence in Europe, where it's sold with a 2.8-liter diesel V6.
"Cherokee is slightly different because of its weight and size. When I think about bringing Cherokee diesel here, I would like to see Grand Cherokee diesel get much higher than eight percent," Manley told Automotive News. "It would have to be in mid-double digits."
NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey
Wed, 09 Jan 2013The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.
