I am selling my 2001 Jeep Cherokee I have owned for seven years. It has served me well in many New York winters and gotten me home every time but I have two other vehicles and I cannot afford to keep a third. It has just under 194,000 miles on it. The motor is the inline 4.0 six cylinder and has an auto tranny with 4 wheel drive which works great. In 2007 and into 2008 I replaced the radiator, alternator, water pump and it had a new cylinder head with a top end rebuild. The radiator and alternator were performed by Maltbie (now Krystal) Chrysler dealership in Warrensburg, NY and the top end rebuild done by Nemer Chrysler in Queensbury, NY. On to more recent times, the tires are a little more than a year old as is the exhaust which has a thrush muffler which made it purr a little bit but it is not overly loud. It has a Daystar 2 inch lift and Rancho shocks all the way around but they have been on for a while. I just had tie rod ends and trac bars put on in November and in February of this year it had new tranny lines a tune up and full tranny service performed. I keep the oil changed at 3,000 miles and the tires rotated when needed. It's on the road now, the brakes are good but it could use an alignment job. It starts and runs and drives. It was my daily driver and it went 50 miles on the highway every day five days a week. The lights all work except the interior dome lights, one broke and I never replaced it and the one in the back the bulb blew out. The power doors work, the power locks work, the A/C needs to be charged up but its never that hot up here in the mountains so rolling down the windows worked well. The heater works great. It is rusty on the outside and there are some dents. There is a slight dent on the driver side door where some woman tapped it with her Honda. Nothing more than a dent and a little sheetmetal damage. The big dent in the right fender came from a deer. Yes, a deer. You can see a little crack by the headlight valance, I replaced all the marker lights and they and the turn signal works fine. I replaced the headlights with some brighter aftermarket ones back in November and they work great. The paint job was a rattle can job I did in my driveway in May 2010 and it has been touched up ever since because it was starting to get a few rust spots. The camo did keep in check for a while but the rust is what it is. It has a Cobra CB and nice antenna that works great (cell service is almost non existent in some places up here) and it comes with it. This would make someone a great winter vehicle, a good beater or a decent start for a trail rig. I won't sugar coat the paint job I made it my own and hopefully it isn't too offensive to some, here in the mountains it worked and looks good.

Chrysler to accelerate production of 2013 Ram and V6 engines

Fri, 16 Nov 2012

Chrysler is adding a third shift at its Warren Truck plant to meet demand for the new 2013 Ram pickup. And with tight supplies of its Pentastar V6, the company is also boosting output at its Mack Engine plant.
The expansions will add 1,250 jobs and are part of a $238 million investment by Chrysler in the Detroit area. Warren's third shift will begin work sometime in the spring, a Chrysler rep told Automotive News. Mack's increased Pentastar production a could include both 3.6 and 3.2-liter engines.
The company says it also plans to invest $40 million in its Trenton Engine plant to allow for production of a 3.2-liter V6 as well as the Tigershark inline-four for the upcoming Jeep Liberty replacement.

Freak accident during Jeep demonstration turns fatal

Mon, 20 May 2013

A 20-year-old woman was killed in Edmonton, Canada on Satuday, reports CTV News, in a freak accident resulting from a rollover during a Jeep demonstration. As part of a fundraising enthusiast event called "Jeeps Go Topless," the driver of one Jeep Wrangler drove up and onto the top of the tire of another.
CTV reports that the owner of the topmost Jeep then switched the vehicle off, posed for pictures and then dismounted from his vehicle. His movement off of the Jeep apparently caused it to tip over, crushing a woman who was on top of an adjacent vehicle. Edmonton police are currently investigating more fully what caused the parking lot accident to occur. Scroll below to watch the CTV News video report about this tragic incident.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Choose Your Own Adventure... But Choose Wisely
Jeep has got you covered. We can say this without even having to know what it is you want, because there's hardly an option or configuration that you won't find in the 2014 Grand Cherokee. There are three different engines, three different four-wheel-drive systems (plus rear-wheel drive), four different trim levels - not counting SRT - two different suspension setups and five different settings for various off-road terrain conditions. If you happen to check the box for Quadra-Lift, you'll also have five different ride-height settings for the driver-selectable air suspension.
As you might expect with so many customization possibilities, the way a buyer checks the options sheet can have a profound effect on the final product and its capabilities, to say nothing of its price. Nowhere is that more true than with the Grand Cherokee's choice of engines, with the brand-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 stealing the spotlight from the still excellent gasoline-fueled 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 powerplants that carry over from last year. No matter which engine you choose, though, it will be paired up with Jeep's new standard eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF. This, ladies and gentlemen, is very good news indeed.
