This is a 1982 Jeep Scrambler, original 6 cylinder, manual transmission. I bought this Scrambler last summer with plans to restore it. I had a friend look at it for me as I was out of state. He is a commercial truck mechanic and gave it a thorough review. I have not actually seen it in person as I now live in Maryland. I sent it to a Jeep shop in Michigan to get an estimate for the work I wanted to have done because being in Maryland now without a proper garage or tools makes it impossible for me to do any of the work. The Jeep is running pretty well according to the guys at the shop but does have a slight leak in the rear axle.  I was going to switch out the axles to one-piece anyway and they said it's not an urgent fix. The floors are rusted and it is the original paint.  There are a few exterior spots of surface rust and the typical Jeep rust on the tub. The bulkhead is supposedly fine and the frame is great according to the guys at the shop/  I planned to do the body work myself but now would have to pay to have it done and that's expensive. This is a good restoration Scrambler. Needs body work and windshield. I am selling because shipping it will cost me close to $1K and I will have to spend an extra $2-3K minimally to have someone else do the work.  If you can do body work yourself or buy a new tub and swap it out them this is a nice opportunity as the frame is good, it is mechanically good, and it's got all the parts (minus the windshield).

I am out of town and just woke up and decided to list it so I will add the actual VIN when I get home and look at the title.  The one I put up temporarily is from another Scrambler.  I was also edit to the actual odometer reading.  The previous owner told me that he bought it in Alabama, shipped it to Michigan and it sat in his garage for a few years.  Again, I have not actually seen this Jeep in person but trust the opinions of my friend and the guys at the Jeep specialty shop where it currently sits.  Here's a video of the Jeep that will be helpful to understanding it's condition as described above:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omycEo1SqF0

2014 Jeep Cherokee gets official in a hurry

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

Automakers work very, very hard to keep their new vehicles under wraps until they can present them in exactly the way they want it - typically choreographed under the bright lights of an auto show, or perhaps with photos or video in an idyllic location. Spy shooters and leaks, in other words, keep executives and public-relations types up at night.
This is likely to be one of the most polarizing designs to come out in 2014.
Take today, for instance, when the team over at Jalopnik got a big scoop - the first undisguised shots of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, a model whose name wasn't even officially confirmed yet. The clandestine images taken inside of a factory were blurry and didn't exactly show off the crossover's radical new contours in the same sort of flattering light that Jeep probably would've wished for its product reveal. So the Auburn Hills automaker has wisely reacted by spilling at least some of the beans on the new model, giving us these four photos and confirming the Liberty replacement's name, Cherokee.

Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.

Jeep brings quartet of concepts to Beijing to show its Chinese style

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Jeep is making a big play for the Chinese crossover market at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. It has a quartet styling concepts for the Renegade, Cherokee and Wrangler that are inspired by Chinese culture at the show.
Among them is the newest member of the Jeep lineup - the Renegade. Its Zi You Xia concept (pictured above) comes from the Mandarin for "rebel," and it's painted in Warm Chocolate Gray with Dark Anodized Bronze trim, including the 20-inch wheels. The roof, grille surround, and mirror caps are done in a complimentary Dark Charcoal color as an accent. The interior is a mix of dark brown leather and Anodized Copper trim. This is one swanky compact crossover.
The Cherokee Sageland and Urbane concepts are meant to show to different sides of Chinese style. With inspiration from the Shangri-La Region, the Sageland has Ivory Pearl tri-coat paint with bronze trim on the outside, and the interior is covered in Gray Nappa leather with red and blue stitching. The Urbane's look comes from the nightlife in the country's cities. The exterior is a color called Maximum Steel with Hyper Black trim. Inside, it combines Piano Black trim with dark red leather seats.
