Jeep Cj7 Laredo 1981 81 Cj7 Laredo on 2040-cars
Rocky Mount, North Carolina, United States
1981 Jeep CJ7 Laredo Custom. The jeep has been in storage since late 2008. I had done a good deal of restoration and had it painted Ford Chrome yellow. I was in a serious accident and it has been stored ever since. I have decided that I will not finish it as I had planned. It has a Jeep 360 with a street cam and a 727 automatic transmission. The motor and trans is professionally built and I have just under 5,000.00 in the motor and 2,000.00 in the trans. The motor and trans has about 4,800 miles on them. It comes with the bikini top shown in the pics and also has a fiberglass hard top with steel doors (black) and a tan soft top. The soft top is probably in rough shape but the frame is in tact. Neither top has been on the jeep in many years but I believe most if not all the hardware is here. It has the original seats which need to be recovered but also has after market seats. There is one of each in it as shown in the pics. I was taking the original seats out to be recovered just before the accident. I had the old gas drained and new points, condenser and coil put on it. It runs good as ever but does need to be fine tuned and run some. It was built to have 400HP and still be a good daily driver with mpg around 16. It is very dirty from being in storage and I am not able to clean as I would like. I am trying to get a friend to come do "some" cleaning but so far he hasn't made it by. The pics show that the interior is dirty but don't show that the exterior is just as dirty. I did give it a light wash as best as I was able and it will clean up pretty good. A while back a tree fell on the building it was in and some stuff fell on the hood and scratched it and the finders. I suspect that the new owner may have it painted anyway unless your ok with yellow. I put no value on the paint job. Also one of the tree limbs pushed the passenger side window out of the hard top. It is not damaged and the rubber seal is ok. It can be put back in but it will take someone with stronger hands that I have at present. As it sits the Jeep is ready to drive but it does need cleaning and your personal touch to get it like you want it. It has to go. I set the buy it now at what I believe all the components are worth as a whole. There are some boxes of stuff I had bought for it that will go with it. Please ask questions as I deal with some memory issues and questions will help me give more details. If you use paypal any fees they charge me will be added to buyers cost at closing. Also this is for sale locally and I will end this early if needed. Thanks for looking and Good Luck!! A added note, the pics may or my not show it but the valve covers appear to be rusted over. I polished a small area with a dry shop cloth and it actually came clean. I believe these can be cleaned up. Again the whole thing needs a good cleaning. And to make it clear. I'm selling as is. Look it over good and ask questions. I have nothing to hide and it has to find a new home. |

Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay
Sat, 23 Mar 2013A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.
2015 Jeep Renegade leaks out ahead of Geneva debut
Mon, 03 Mar 2014Meet the Renegade - Jeep's new baby crossover that's set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week. The folks at Jalopnik got their hands on a small batch of photos of the new little cutie, showing what appears to be a Trailhawk (read: trail-rated) version, as well as a more civilian-spec Renegade, complete with a new removable roof system, reportedly called My Sky.
Details are slim, though in addition to the exterior images, one photo of the interior has also been leaked, showing what appears to be a small, yet functional (and nicely appointed) cabin. Early reports suggested that the new small Jeep would be based on the Fiat 500L platform, though Jalopnik rightly points out that the Renegade looks an awful lot like the Panda 4x4. Regardless, there's still likely some 500L bones under there, and we'll know more once the official details are revealed in the very near future.
Head over to Jalopnik for more shots of the cute little Renegade, and stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
Jeep gives Cherokee its yin and yang with Sageland and Urbane concepts
Sat, 19 Apr 2014Among the design concepts Jeep has prepared for Beijing Motor Show this year are a pair of Cherokees dressed up in contrasting schemes.
In one corner we have the Sageland concept pictured above, drawing its inspiration from Shangri-La with an Ivory Peal tri-coat and bronze trim for the grille, fascia appliqués, roof rack, sunroof, mirror caps and exhaust tips. Inside it's all earth tones with light gray Nappa leather seats and red and blue top-stitching inspired by traditional Chinese themes.
Meanwhile the Urbane concept (pictured right) takes the Cherokee in a different direction with steel blue metallic paintjob and black accents. Inside it adopts the theme of Chinese calligraphy with Piano Black accepts and dark red Nappa leather.
