Extremely rare 1973 Jeep CJ-6 with removable half-cab hard top and doors for sale. The jeep is identical to a CJ-5 except the body/wheelbase is 20 inches longer. It has less than 52,000 original miles and runs great. Body is in excellent condition for year of jeep. Paint is fading and will need to be redone if show quality is desired.
The history of the jeep as I know it, is it lived most of its life in California as a forest service vehicle. I purchased it from a guy in Wyoming. Since I purchased it in 2012, I installed a new intake/exhaust manifold gasket, new belt, hoses, spark plug/wires, distributor cap, rotor, e-brake cable, extended brake lines, 4 inch Skyjacker springs, Skyjacker shocks, steering stabilizer shock, 15X8 Wheels (2.5" backspacing), 33X10.50 BFG KM2 tires, rock sliders (.25" wall). The wheelbase is identical to a CJ-8 Scrambler at 103 inches. However, it has a better departure angle (no Scrambler truck overhang) and stock Dana 44 rear axle. The combination is ideal for rock crawling, or you can take the top off, add a back seat, and still have room for a cooler behind the back seat (unlike a CJ-5). Chrysler accelerates Jeep recall repairs from 2018 to March

You may remember that Jeep's unusual fix for this recall involves fitting a trailer hitch.
The recall of about 1.5 million models of the 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty and 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee over fuel tanks may finish far sooner than originally estimated. In a new filing from Jeep's parent, Chrysler Group, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company says that it can complete the repairs for the affected vehicles by March 2015, much sooner than the previous estimate of sometime in 2018. Jeep predicts the total cost of the campaign will be around $151 million.

NHTSA closes investigation into Jeep Liberty fires
Sun, 16 Mar 2014The investigation that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened into the Jeep Liberty in October 2013 has been closed. NHTSA received two (!) complaints about fires starting in the driver's door, thought to be caused by the master power window switch. The initial estimate was that 80,000 Libertys could be roped into a possible recall, but according to a report in the Detroit News the agency examined records for 425,000 Chrysler products that used the same window switch, including the Dodge Nitro and Chrysler Town & Country minivan.
After canvassing 265 warranty claims related to the master switches, NHTSA concluded that the rate of fires compared to the "large population of vehicles" was rather low, and that there was no trend pattern behind the few issues it did find. Perhaps with that, and the closure of the trailer hitch investigation, the Liberty can finally rest in peace.
