I have an X-military 1961 Willys Jeep M38A1 up for auction.  10% of the final selling price of this Jeep will be donated to the local Disabled American Veterans Association here in southside Virginia.  It will be donated in the winning bidders name with a copy of the check/reciept mailed to the winning bidder if the winning bidder wishes, if not, it will be donated in my name.  The Jeep has the original 4-cylinder engine with a recent tune-up.  It was parked and restoration started about 8 months ago and that was the last time the Jeep ran and drove.  It has a new Rough Country 4" suspension lift installed with new shackles also.  The brakes have been redone with all new brake lines, rubber hoses, wheel cylinders and brake shoes.  It has good brakes now.  The custom aluminum wheels were installed then also.  75% of the floor-pan has been replaced already and the remainder is included with the Jeep.  A new set of guages, battery disconnect, hose and wire covers are also included in the sale of the Jeep.  I acquired the Jeep from a divorce settlement and do not have the seats or rollbar for the Jeep.  The previous owner stated he could not go back to get the rest of the parts.  What you see is what you get.  Nothing is hidden with this Jeep, no rhino liner, nothing covered up.  The passengers side rocker has already had a patch panel welded in, but the bodywork has not been finished.   The Jeep is pretty solid for a 1961.   The frame is perfect with no rust thru at all, only surface rust.  The reserve on this Jeep is low and priced to sell.  The lift kit and wheels would cost you the reserve if you bought only them.  The wiring needs some work as some wires have been cut.  Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.

Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT

Jeep's Super 'Ute Is Fun Thrown In The Face Of Conventional Wisdom
Let's talk asses for a moment. What do they have to do with the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, you ask?
Well, we're here to tell you that this SRT can haul some. Lots of them, as a matter of fact: Jeep has increased the towing capacity of its most powerful SUV to 7,200 pounds. Assuming the average donkey weighs about 400 pounds, the Grand Cherokee SRT can haul ass to the tune of 18 burros, give or take a covered trailer or so, which is significantly more than it could in previous years. In 2013, the machine could manage 5,000 pounds, while the first generation was rated at just 3,500. The increase is mostly attributable to a new eight-speed automatic transmission and beefier rear axle, and it's a welcome update for those who'd like to use their SUV as, well, an SUV with an emphasis on utility.

Chrysler delays 2014 Jeep Cherokee media launch

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Chrysler is making the unusual move of delaying the first media drives of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which were slated to start next week in Seattle. And while something like this is a rare occurrence, and one that most of the Autoblog staff can't recall happening this publicly or so close to the event itself, it won't effect the actual on-sale date of the new Cherokee, which is set to hit showrooms in September.
"Over the last couple of weeks during final quality and durability testing, we have discovered the opportunity to further improve powertrain calibration," Chrysler told Automotive News. This marks the second notable delay in the Cherokee's short life, after production was delayed for roughly a month earlier this summer.
Still, we'd rather Chrysler make sure the Cherokee is ready for primetime before flying media in from around the country. It shows a willingness to get things right the first time, rather than offering media drives and then tweaking the car after the fact.
