For sale is a very nice 2001 Jaguar XK8.  I purchased the car from a doctor in Southern Califonia in April of 2010.  I surprised my wife with the car when we were on vacation in Palm Desert.  We drove the car for the week and then had it shipped home to Kansas City.  We have put approximately 2,000 miles on the car during our ownership.  We have replaced the troublesome hydaulic hoses that operate the top mechanism.  The top works flawlessly.  We have replaced the tires with Continental Extreme Contacts.  These are a high end, high performance tire that operate in all weather conditions.  They are the factory 18" sizes:  245/45/18 for the front and 255/45/18 for the rear.  They have approximately 500 miles on them currrently.  The doctor rebadged the car with the 2001 XKR rear insignia, exhaust tips and front grill.  He told me that he had always liked the look and I agree.  The car is equipped with Navigation and Backup Sensors.  The car is not detailed, you are looking at it in the condition that we have kept it.  I will gladly have the car detailed before shipment, if that would be your preference.  The car drives down the highway flawlessly and you will be very pleasantly surprised with the quiet cockpit.  No warning lights are on.  I do not know of any maintenance that will need to be performed.  I have had the car titled in my neighbors auto dealership, so the title transfer will be from his dealership.  Please call Steve with any questions.  913-634-0040  Thanks for looking at my auction.

Jaguar buys world's largest collection of British cars

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Whether you're looking at Bertone going bankrupt or Spyker facing (and subsequently resolving) a large tax bill, it's saddening to see an automaker having to sell off its factory collection. That's why we're glad to report that there are still some acquiring historic vehicles from their pasts. Like Jaguar, which has just bought the largest private collection of classic British cars in the world.
The collection of 543 cars was painstakingly assembled by one James Hull, a British dentist with some 50 dental clinics to his name across the UK and who was keen to find the right buyer to take possession of his life's work and preserve it for years to come.
Of those 543 cars, the majority are of British origin, including over 130 Jaguars. The collection includes seven XK120s, several C- and D-Types, a rare XKSS, eight E-Types, thirty Mark-series Jaguar sedans, nineteen XJS coupes and convertibles, some twenty XJ sedans as well as some pre-war SS models and Swallow sidecars and coachbuilt specials from the company's early days. Among the many noteworthy examples are a rare SS100, an alloy-bodied XK120 and an MK X owned by company founder Sir William Lyons himself, as well as Winston Churchill's Austin, Elton John's Bentley, and racing driver and motorcycle rider Mike Hailwood's E-Type.

Jaguar Land Rover details JustDrive connectivity suite

JustDrive will allegedly deliver on the long-promised idea of natural communication between driver and car.
Jaguar Land Rover's all-new InControl system is set to get a big bump as the British company will add a new service called JustDrive, which expands on the smartphone-focused infotainment system by adding a singular voice controller for a wide array of the system's currently available apps.

Ian Callum, Brian Johnson and Lord March pick 10 top Jaguars

Thu, 11 Sep 2014

An automaker with as rich a heritage as Jaguar is bound to create a few experts along the way... and some divergent opinions, too. So on the eve of the debut of the new XE, Jaguar brought together three experts to whittle down the long list of classic Leaping Cats to just ten.
For this gargantuan task, it brought in Ian Callum (who, as the company's chief designer, knows a thing or two about Jaguars), Lord Charles Henry Gordon-Lennox (the Earl of March and founder of the Goodwood Revival) and Brian Johnson - who may be better known as the frontman of AC/DC, but also a classic car enthusiast, collector and racer in his own right.
So what did the designer, the nobleman and the celebrity choose? The SS100, XK120 (namely number NUB 120), the C-Type that competed at the 1953 Mille Miglia, the D-Type that won at Reims, the Mk II sedan, the E-Type that served as the Geneva show car, the one and only XJ13, company founder Sir William Lyons' personal XJ6 S1, the TWR XJS touring car and the 1988 Le Mans-winning XJR-9.
