1999 Jaguar XK8 Everything works. Has a recently installed engine with about 80,000 miles on it. Recently installed a up dated reworked radiator. Installed new transmission pressure lines (2). Replaced transmission fluid. Replaced all four oxygen sensors with O.E.M. jaguar brand units. Replaced brake lite switch & did a complete electrical system check. Replaced the canister purge valve. Replaced the PCV hose assembly. Checked the engine performance circuits. This Jaguar has new tires, five new rims, and a new oxygen sensor. The convertable top motor was inspected and the CFI fluid replaced. The top is in like new condition with a very good looking interior liner. There is also a very well conditioned leather boot which comes with the car. The seats and overall interior is in like new condition. This car is an example of what a well sorted out car of this type should look like. The car is well priced and will provide its owner with endless moments of pleasure while looking very sophiscated in the process. There are no mechanical issues. The Jaguar E-Type Lightweight is back on the prowl after a few decades away
Sun, 17 Aug 2014Sometimes procrastination has its benefits. Jaguar originally planned to build a run of 18 E-Type Lightweights for racing in the '60s. However, it was only ever to complete 12 of them. It has taken all of the intervening decades to finally get back to the project and build the final run of new Lightweights. While Jag announced the plan recently, the first continuation model was unveiled during the Pebble Beach weekend.
Coming from Jaguar Land Rover's Special Operations unit, these cars are identical to the way they left the factory in the '60s. Jag is even using the same grade of aluminum for the bodies, and the cars are fully compliant for FIA historic racing. Power comes from an aluminum, 3.8-liter inline-six with about 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque routed through a four-speed manual gearbox. Who could guess that in 2014 someone could buy a brand new vehicle from a major manufacturer that comes with Weber carbs? Though, Lucas mechanical fuel injection is an option.
While they look old, these new E-types are also a wonder of modern technology. To get things just right, the company laser scanned an original car to create the new bodies. Check out the gallery from the unveiling to see this old cat on the prowl again.
Jaguar-Land Rover builds millionth vehicle at Halewood
Fri, 29 Nov 2013Jaguar-Land Rover is not what you'd call a volume automaker by any stretch of the imagination. But in the dozen years since it started manufacturing at its Halewood plant near Liverpool, England, the automaker has already built its millionth vehicle.
The landmark vehicle is a Range Rover Evoque, done up in white with red roof and mirrors, black wheels and a red and black interior. The crossover is set to be donated to Cancer Research UK, which will auction it off next year to help fund its projects in the north-west of the country.
Halewood started manufacturing the Jaguar X-Type in 2001, then went on to assemble the Land Rover LR2 / Freelander 2 before taking on production of the Evoque a year and a half ago. The facility reached the 300,000-unit milestone just last year as production moved to a 24-hour cycle for the first time in either marque's history.
Chris Harris finds the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe rather drifty
Wed, 26 Mar 2014Our own Matt Davis may have called the new Jaguar F-Type R Coupe "one heady rascal," but our review was disappointingly short on drifting, tire smoke and general, English shenanigans. You know, the sort of things that Chris Harris from Drive excels at.
Actually, relative to Harris' other reviews, this one is rather serious. There's a good recap of the F-Type on the road, with Harris referencing the car's "great bottom" and "amazing ass," quite frequently. Surprisingly, Harris says the more powerful F-Type R is just "incrementally" faster than the 495-horsepower F-Type V8 S Convertible. Following the on-road portion, it's off to the track. You can probably predict what goes on there. Overall, aside from some quibbles, Harris has nothing but praise for the newest cat.
