If you’ve been looking for a low mileage XK8 this is it. At 38,000 miles this car is barely broken in. Everything works as new. I have had a lot of high performance sports cars and beats them all as far grace beauty and exhilarating performance. In the first 12 years of it’s this car mostly sit in a garage, when we bought it in 2012 it had less than 8,000 miles on. Yes, it was owed by a rich old lady who never drove it. Front Wheel Bearings At 13,000 Replaced ECU At 12,000 Replaced Front and Rear Wishbone Bushings This car is in excellent mechanical condition, it does have some minor cosmetic flaws. (see photos) Exterior: Left Front fender had a golf ball dent repaired. When this was done we repainted the front hood and both fenders Drivers door tiny dent Drivers size quarter panel small arch shaped scratch and tiny dent where a bike fell. You have to get up close to see it. There is slight fading on the top of the rear trunk but it still buffs out to a nice shine with wax. Interior: The original leather is in amazing shape for a car of this age, there are no cracks but there are small imperfections. Drivers seat had a wear a stitch. There are a few tiny cracks in the wood trim at the shifter. A minor flaw at a stitch on the passenger seat. Drivers side speaker covers are secured by optional interior screws. Jaguar Land Rover opens first overseas factory in China
Wed, 22 Oct 2014Anyone who's a car fan knows that Jaguar and Land Rover cars and trucks all come from the UK. And while we don't doubt that will remain true for the most part, it won't be an absolute truth for long, as the British automaker has just opened its first factory overseas.
Its new plant in Changshu, China, is the result of a $1.8-billion joint venture between JLR and local automaker Chery. It covers some 4.3-million square feet and will, once at peak capacity, produce 130,000 units specifically for the Chinese market, where JLR sells over 100,000 vehicles each year to make it the company's single largest market worldwide.
Production at what's officially known as the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company will start with the Evoque, of which one in five globally are currently sold in China. Production will eventually encompass three models. We already know that the Discovery Sport will be next, but the third model line has yet to be announced. JLR has confirmed, however, that the Changshu plant will produce unique models and derivatives specifically for the Chinese market, so we wouldn't be surprised to see a long-wheelbase version of the forthcoming XE or next-generation XF assembled there to satisfy local tastes.
Evil Brits star in Jaguar's first-ever Super Bowl commercial
Wed, 29 Jan 2014Chrysler's Imported from Detroit commercial from Super Bowl XLV is one of the most powerful car commercials in recent memory, and Jaguar is taking a similar approach - albeit with a more villainous spin - for its first-ever Super Bowl spot titled Rendezvous. While Chrysler and Eminem focused on hometown cheerleading, Jaguar is using its $8 million (the going rate for a 60-second commercial in this year's game) to play up the Hollywood tradition of typecasting a Brit as the bad guy.
In the spot highlighting the all-new F-Type Coupe, Jaguar looked to director Tom Hooper (the man behind movies like The King's Speech and 2012's Les Misérables), who filmed on location in London with British bad guy actors Mark Strong, Ben Kingsley and Tom Hiddleston. As the commercial implies, Brits make perfect bad guys with their style, sound and power, which are all traits evident in the F-Type.
The commercial will air in the fourth quarter of this Sunday's game, but you can watch it now in the video posted below. Jaguar has also included a press release as well as a second behind-the-scenes video showing how the ad was made.
2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT claws at the driving enthusiast in us
Wed, 27 Mar 2013If you still find yourself coming up a few seconds short per lap in your Jaguar XKR-S, the British automaker has introduced the XKR-S GT - a cat specifically tuned for the racing circuit - at the New York Auto Show.
While Jaguar has left the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 unchanged (550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque), it has tuned and tweaked all the items that really make cars go quicker on the track (e.g. suspension, aerodynamics, contact patches, brakes). A once-over reveals upgraded go-fast goodies including a new ventilated hood, extended wheel arch spats, reworked front end with a bespoke front splitter and canards, a massive rear wing, height-adjustable adaptive dampers, active exhaust, carbon-ceramic brakes and sticky Pirelli Corsa tires. Try as we might, the driver in us can't find anything we not to like about this enthusiast-tuned coupe.
Of course all of the upgraded XK goodness doesn't come easy, or cheap. Jaguar will limit North American sales to just 30 units and price each at $174,000. Learn all the juicy details in the official press release below.
