1992 Jaguar XJS Convertible
29k Miles (yes, only 29,000 miles!)
5.7cid V-12 Engine, GM THM400 Automatic Transmission

Everything works, convertible top is Brand New!
Cold A/C, upgraded
Power Windows, Power Seats
New custom exhaust, purrs like a kitten!

This is the one you've been waiting for......
As near perfect as any XJS Convertible you will find!

This Jaguar was purchased by me last June with just over 29,000 miles. It now has 29,500 miles.  During the last 500 miles, I've made many enhancements for your driving pleasure.

Unlike many sellers who drone on endlessly with flowery descriptions but they don't have a clue what's under the paint......I've owned many XJS's and know exactly what it takes to go from an "average" XJS to an "Oustanding" XJS!

New in the last 500 miles:
Convertible Top, Including liner
Inside Headliner

Front Bilstein Shocks
Rear Boge Shocks
Both are high-end, high performance shock absorber manufacturers.

Rear Sport Spring Set (4)
Check out the ride-height (gap above tires).
Most cars of this vintage will be substantally sagging over the rear wheels.  (Go ahead, check out those other XJS vehicles on Ebay!)
Why new rear springs you say?
The rear springs on XJS cars are much smaller than the front springs..
Even though only 29k miles, the springs have been holding the car up for 22 years...they get tired!!

Addco Performance Sport Roll Bar - Front
Addco Performance Sport Roll Bar - Rear
Eliminates all body roll during turns...Take turns (or freeway ramps) at any speed, and the car stays flat!

Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (Large & Small ends)
Note large-bushing air-gaps mounted sideways to reduce IRS movement- Originally installed in-line which allows IRS to roll
High-Performance Connecting Links
Fully adjustable to allow for rear sway bar tuning

Custom Free-Flowing Exhaust System
Stacked glass-pack mufflers reduce back pressure, engine runs cooler & delivers a pleasing note, especially with top down
Pirelli P600 Radial Tires
Jaguar XJS's OEM used Pirelli Tires for their performance, endurance, and styling

Front Brake Calipers & Pads
New Dual-Piston Front Calipers, New Premium Pads

New Interior Ski Slope, w/cup-holders (no ashtrays)
Finally! Someone designed a replacement ski-slope with cup holders!
Oil Change - Oil Filter - Lube (yes, this car has grease fittings)
Marelli Distributor Rotor

All new speakers in front doors and rear cabinet area

New Halogen Fog Lamp bulbs

New Poly Steering-Rack Bushings
Steering is tight, car tracks beautifully!

Paint appears original, body is slick and smooth.
There was a minor paint touchup done that will be hard to discover!

Now if a similar car you see on Ebay is advertised as "absolutely perfect", or "simply stunningly", recognize salesman-speak when you hear it.
While these vintage cars can be in 'really good' condition, at 20+ yrs old, they ALL have some issues.  You will always be chasing some little thing on these cars, so if you're allergic to maintenence, this car is "not" for you.
.
Here are the "very few" deficiencies I've noted on this car...See pictures:
Carpet in rear deck "where sun had shone through" was replaced. Slightly off color to the floor carpeting.
Previous owner replaced original hood "Growler" medallion with a "Leaper" medallion
(The Leaper was only used on sedans (aka Saloons)
While this may not be a big deal, it will definately subtract points at a Concours judging event!
(And even more painful, sometimes you'll see a Growler AND a Leaper together on the same hood...Yikes!)

   Electric door locks are tempermental.
Trunk however can be locked separately. Recommend never locking convertible doors anyway!

Features:
This is an ultra-smooth ride.
Starts easily, fast idles when cold, RPM's drop to 800 when warm.
No warning lights, bells, or whistles after normal start up.

Car eagerly accelerates, responding to your desire.....shifts smooth, stops quickly.
Exceptionally quiet body noise for a convertible - No clicks, pops, groans, thumps, etc.

All interior courtesy lamps work when doors open.
All exterior lamps are fully functional.

Electric windows and electric top works perfectly.
Trip computer face is flawless
(most this age are heat-fogged).
Rear window defogger (wires on glass) works fine.

OEM Cruise Control engages and holds perfect speed.
OEM AM/FM/Stereo Radio and Cassette Deck are both rebuilt.
Rear deck (trunk) lid is flawless.
(Many in this era are rusted along outer bottom edge)

New battery in trunk,  plus small trickle charger permanently mounted.
(Previous owner didn't drive it much!)
Includes original Jaguar tool kit in trunk pouch
Includes all owners' manuals
Includes brand-new, never used spare tire on mag rim
(Rim is identical to mounted tires)
Includes canvas OEM parade cover
(covers retracted convertible top)
Includes several repair manuals on CD

Did I mention this car only has 29k miles?

This car is a head turner and will be your pride and other's envy..
Can you tell I'm a little bit of a fanatic about how I maintain my Jaguars?

This is an exceptional, reliable, exotic, and highly sought-after automobile.
I'd REALLY like to sell it to someone that has previously owned an XJS so they can realize just how much better one can be with the right knowledge and TLC!

The NADA Guide "Average" Retail on this beauty is $15400, "High Retail" is $22,100

Evil Brits star in Jaguar's first-ever Super Bowl commercial

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Chrysler's Imported from Detroit commercial from Super Bowl XLV is one of the most powerful car commercials in recent memory, and Jaguar is taking a similar approach - albeit with a more villainous spin - for its first-ever Super Bowl spot titled Rendezvous. While Chrysler and Eminem focused on hometown cheerleading, Jaguar is using its $8 million (the going rate for a 60-second commercial in this year's game) to play up the Hollywood tradition of typecasting a Brit as the bad guy.
In the spot highlighting the all-new F-Type Coupe, Jaguar looked to director Tom Hooper (the man behind movies like The King's Speech and 2012's Les Misérables), who filmed on location in London with British bad guy actors Mark Strong, Ben Kingsley and Tom Hiddleston. As the commercial implies, Brits make perfect bad guys with their style, sound and power, which are all traits evident in the F-Type.
The commercial will air in the fourth quarter of this Sunday's game, but you can watch it now in the video posted below. Jaguar has also included a press release as well as a second behind-the-scenes video showing how the ad was made.

Jaguar to offer high-performance SVR models like Land Rover?

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed this past weekend, Land Rover previewed its upcoming performance version of the Range Rover Sport. Only instead of wearing the R-S badge that adorns the most hardcore of Jaguar models, the performance SUV from JLR's Special Operations unit introduced the letters SVR. And now, it seems that badge is here to stay.
Following the Range Rover Sport SVR, a new report from Motor Authority now says that Jaguar Land Rover will use those letters to distinguish the top-of-the-line performance models from both marques moving forward. As such, we might expect SVR models of the upcoming Jaguar XE compact sedan and Land Rover Discovery Sport, as well as potential new performance models based on the new F-Type and next-generation XF.
If accurate, the move would seem to separate Jaguar in particular from the R-S badge that has adorned performance models like the XFR-S and XKR-S. Both Audi and Porsche use the letters RS to distinguish its most hardcore models as well (e.g. Audi RS7 Sportback and Porsche 911 GT3 RS). Whether the similarity was a factor in shifting to the SVR moniker, we don't know, but either way, we welcome the arrival of a new generation of Jaguar and Land Rover performance models - especially if they pack the 575-horsepower version of the company's ubiquitous 5.0-liter supercharged V8. Not incidentally, that delicious powerplant gained a couple of new engine bays to call home at Goodwood as well - it's not just found in the forthcoming Range Rover Sport SVR, it's found a home in the F-Type Project 7, too.

Jaguar confirms 575-hp F-Type Project 7 for Goodwood debut

Wed, 25 Jun 2014

Two days ago, Jaguar announced it had something special in store for the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend. Then yesterday images of that special creation, the F-Type Project 7, leaked out. And now, as promised, Coventry has released the full details on the ultimate F-Type to date. And its even better than we expected.
The production version of the concept revealed last year, the F-Type Project 7 celebrates the 60th anniversary of the D-Type by borrowing some of that legendary roadster's design cues, right down to the rear fin and British Racing Green livery with white racing stripes.
Of course the Project 7 is more than just a retro appearance package. The bespoke speedster packs a version of Jaguar's prolific 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 575 horsepower - 25 more than the F-Type R Coupe - to make it the Leaping Cat marque's most powerful production car to date. Mated to Coventry's familiar eight-speed automatic transmission, that's said to be enough to propel the Project 7 to 60 in 3.8 seconds en route to an electronically limited top speed of 186 miles per hour. Keeping all that power and pace in check and on the road are such features as carbon ceramic brakes, a full complement of carbon-fiber aero components, electronic differential and brake-based torque vectoring system.
