1974 Jaguar E-Type has been lovingly restored to original condition.  Unfortunately the car was garage stored for 7 years and not driven.  The car is now being sold for a friend.  As a professional mechanic, I have inspected the car and found it to be in excellent mechanical condition, although I did replace the pinion seal, all brake hoses, brake pads, and all cooling system hoses.  All four carburetors have been rebuilt and the gas tank has been removed and cleaned. The fuel lines have been cleaned out and the steering rack has been rebuilt.  Both brake master cylinders and the booster have been replaced.  Typical as English cars are, it may have occasional oil drips.  The engine bay is exceptional clean and appears new.  The car runs and drives wonderfully with no known problems.  The British Racing Green body is in very good condition with no visible rust and very few nicks and scratches that are not obvious.  The biscuit interior and black top are new.  The tires are in very good condition with no apparent dry rot but are at least 7 to 8 years old.  This is a car that I believe is turn-key and ready to drive away.

The car is sold as-is, with no warranty.  Serious buyers are welcome to inspect the car in person or send an inspector to form your own opinion of its condition.  I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  Please no dealers, resellers, trades or photo collectors.

No bidders with a score of 10 or less feedback unless you contact me first.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.  Good luck and happy bidding.

The successful bidding with provide a $1000, non-refundable down payment within 24 hours of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle.  The buyer agrees to pay the remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes) within 72 hours of the close of the auction.  All financial transactions must be complete before delivery of the vehicle.  Payment may be in cash, certified check, or any other standard guaranteed payment method.  Out-of-state buyers are responsible for all state, county, city taxes and fees as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle will be registered.

Can a Jaguar XKR-S be drifted while blindfolded?

Thu, 27 Dec 2012

Bring together a 550-horsepower Jaguar XKR-S and a rain-soaked skidpad, and it's almost impossible to not end up in a sideways drift... accidental or on purpose. With that in mind, the gang over at Autocar got a hold of the monstrous XKR-S for the latest installment of "Will it Drift?," only they raised the stakes a little by attempting the feat with a blindfolded driver
We've driven the XKR-S a number of times here at Autoblog (including a First Drive, Review and Quick Spin), so we weren't at all surprised to learn that blind drifting in the car is possible. But what is remarkable is the ease at which it happened. This, of course, can be credited as much to the car as to the driver, Steve Sutcliffe. Check out the impressive video for yourself, which is posted after the jump.

Jaguar's Callum refutes two XJ bodystyle rumor

Wed, 01 May 2013

Not long ago, we relayed word from Edmunds that Jaguar was planning to split its next-generation XJ sedan into two bodystyles - one model that continued the ambitious design approach fostered with the current X351-based model, and another, more upright model to better appeal to China's conservative design sensibilities.
We expressed some cynicism in the idea, noting that such a strategy "might catch more profits for the marque, but it might also represent a setback to design head Ian Callum's vision for a thoroughly modern Jaguar portfolio." Callum has been quite insistent in his belief that Jag needs to be a forward-thinking brand in terms of design, and the two-model strategy seemed to conflict with that idea. We tried to get some comment from Callum at that time, but were unable to reach him.
As it turns out, our cynicism was well-placed. Autocar says that while the next XJ will continue to have two wheelbases, Callum has denied the two-model talk, saying flatly: "I can't see us doing two bodystyles. The cost would be enormous and the message inconsistent. You have to believe in what you produce and to do two bodystyles would undermine that."

Jaguar Land Rover says key models in short supply, some have six-month wait lists

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

Care for a bit more proof that the Jaguar Land Rover portfolio of vehicles is the best it's ever been? Well, the Indian-owned pair of brands saw a record year in 2013, while 2014 has seen a 14-percent increase in sales. The crazy thing is, though, is that figure could be even higher, provided the company had the production capacity.
JLR is running a six-month waiting list on two of its most popular models, the Range Rover Sport (above) and Range Rover. According to Mark White, the company's chief technologist for body engineering, the blame can be placed on the paint shop at the company's Solihull factory, in the UK.
"We will probably max out the paint shop before we max out the body shop. Putting the second body shop in has given us the flexibility to ebb and flow the different models that go through there and meet the capacity demands we've got," White told Automotive News. "However, you always hit a bottleneck somewhere. And the paint shop is probably going to be the next biggest obstacle."
