An actual 1963 Jaguar E-Type Roadster (and titled as such) that was an Aerospace Engineers 30 year project. First and most importantly, this is a project that should go only to a skilled and knowledgeable mechanic, car fabricator or race shop for finishing and updating. Fitted with a 400ci Chevy V8 and 4-Speed. Car retains original Body shell, front sub-frames, front and rear suspension, steering and disk brakes. Nose section may be a one-off and is in fiberglass. To allow the Chevy engine to be installed, some frame tubes were cut and some were added. Front crossmember and one top tube have visable damage but can likely be strengthened easily. Windshield is a modified Plymouth. Car should be rewired. Car has been stored several years. Engine cranks properly and will likely start and run with fresh gas and new plugs. Jaguar F-Type Project 7 takes the D-Type to the 21st Century
Sat, 16 Aug 2014One of the many big name debuts during the 2014 Monterey car week is this, the Jaguar F-Type Project 7, a stunning roadster inspired by Jaguar's legendary, finned D-Type sports car.
The Project 7 expands on the already appealing F-Type Convertible formula, further boosting the Jaguar Land Rover 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 to its most potent form yet - 575 horsepower - making this the most powerful production Jag in history. So equipped, the Project 7 is more cheetah than jaguar, roaring to 60 miles per hour in a rapid 3.8 seconds before reaching its electronically limited peak speed of 186 miles per hour.
Prices for the F-Type Project 7 start at $165,000, with customer deliveries slated begin in spring of 2015.
Jaguar design boss Callum reinterprets classic Mark 2 for himself [w/video]
Fri, 29 Aug 2014As the man behind the styling of basically every Jaguar since the mid 2000s, two things should be known about Ian Callum - he's a big fan of the brand, and he can bloody well get whatever kind of Jag he wants.
His newest car, though, is not what you might expect. Rather than an F-Type or an XJ, Callum has gone old school, and commissioned a custom, resto-modded Jaguar Mark 2.
Designed by Callum and built by Classic Motor Cars in Shropshire, England, the Mark 2 was an 18-month project between the designer and the garage. The essentially new car draws its power from a 4.3-liter engine that's been pilfered and modified from an XK. It's mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Jaguar recalling XK Convertible and XF 2.0T sedan for unrelated issues
Fri, 16 Aug 2013Jaguar has announced that it will be recalling 1,989 XK Convertibles produced between October 1, 2010 and August 1, 2013. Model years ranging from 2011 to 2014 are part of the recall.
The issue has to do with one of the switches the switch that controls the opening and closing of the convertible top. The switch also has to do with the operation of the power windows. According to the Feds, the switch doesn't move down to close the power windows, meaning that the window could accidentally close on the finger or arm of an inattentive person.
In related news, Jaguar is also recalling 940 2013 XF sedans powered by the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for a hose that can detach underhood, which could cause the engine to stall or could leave the driver without power steering or brakes.
