This car ran and drove great until the coolant pump was recently replaced. It was a component failure and the pump literally broke apart, allowing the fan to fly into the radiator, tearing up the radiator, fan and shroud.

The engine was undamaged and still runs great. It was not overheated and appears unharmed. The timing belt, idler and tensioner were also replaced when the pump failed and they are still fine. I was going to replace the pump and the damaged parts to keep the car, but as we have other vehicles that are fine, it's just not cost effective for me to do so. As such, the car is being sold whole or being parted out.

All major powertrain components were good and all accessories worked fine. There are the routine dings, normal wear and tear items, and a few small interior flaws like the center console cover that the dog chewed on and a broken mount for the lower left plastic power seat switch panel, but otherwise in good shape for the year. I do have a good center console lid that was next on the list before this happened.

If you want a J30 that needs a little work (coolant pump, radiator, fan and shroud,) this is just for you. If you need a J30 for parts, this is perfect for you. I'll get a couple interior pics to add later. Aside from what is noted above, the tan interior is in decent shape.

The reserve is far less than what a good used J30 twin cam 3.0L engine alone would sell for. Local buyers are preferred. If you're out of the area, transport/shipping is up to you.

Q50 Eau Rouge to kick off series of performance Infinitis

Infiniti is desperate to position itself as a brand for performance enthusiast. It's tried to create that impression by attaching its name to the Red Bull Racing team, by sprucing up the G37 Coupe and G37 Convertible as part of its lack-luster Infiniti Performance Line, and by bringing Sebastian Vettel on board to create a special edition FX crossover. But the Japanese luxury brand knows it's going to need something more comprehensive if it's going to go up against BMW and its M models, Mercedes and its AMGs, or Audi and its Quattro GmbH-tuned RS range.
That's why the Q50 Eau Rouge concept unveiled just last week at the Detroit Auto Show was so important to the marque. But Infiniti has more in store than just a concept. Nissan desires to put the Q50 Eau Rouge - named after the notoriously challenging turn at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium - into production with a 500-horsepower engine. But in speaking to Automotive News, Infiniti chief Johan de Nysschen hinted at more good news to come.
That could include a performance version of a new flagship sedan Infiniti is said to be working on, positioned above the current Q70 to fill the void left by the discontinued Q45 that capped the brand's range before it shifted its entire naming scheme behind it. The flagship sedan would need some serious muscle to challenge the likes of the Mercedes S63 AMG and Audi S8, but Infiniti seems bent on getting there. To cap it all off, Infiniti has long been rumored to be working on a halo sports car. Whether they'll all carry the Eau Rouge name, the IPL badge or some sort of other designator remains to be seen, but we'll enjoy seeing this development progress.

Sometimes, new technology doesn't make things better. Take the march of power steering technology as an example. Electrically assisted systems are in vogue at the moment for their ability to increase fuel efficiency, but tuning them to offer good feedback remains something of a dark art. Some automakers get it, but most don't. The previous hydraulically assisted setups just seem to be inherently more communicative when driven with enthusiasm. And it looks like Infiniti might be learning this lesson the hard way.
In talking with Keith St. Clair, the luxury brand's head of product planning, Car and Driver has learned that the Q50S is probably going to ditch its standard electrically assisted steering in favor of a hydraulic system derived from the old G37, a model soon to be renamed the Q40. The system should make the sedan more engaging behind the wheel, but it still won't help those who tick the option box for Infiniti's controversial Direct Adaptive Steering drive-by-wire system.
According to St. Clair, Infiniti's engineers have heard the complaints of critics and previous G37 owners about the Q50S model's electric steering system, and wanted to see what they could do. They didn't have to go far to figure it out - all it required was taking the steering rack off of a G37 and putting it onto the Q50S. After a little tweaking, "the car is a blast to drive," St. Clair reports. Now, the company is said to be fast-tracking the switch, and it could be ready for the 2016 model year.
