Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, United States

2001 Honda Prelude, last year model made, non-SH version (all wheel steering), 5 speed manual transmission, sunroof, rear spoiler, recently replaced and upgraded H23A "blue top" VTEC engine.  Original black interior in fantastic shape for its age, minimal signs of wear and absolutely no abuse (tears, rips, stains, etc.) and the exterior is the super-rare and desirable "pearl white" color.

Here is the background and current status of the car:
Bought for my teenage son approximately 2 years ago.  He drove it until approximately 8 months ago when the original H22A4 VTEC motor let go.  We decided to install a H23A "blue top" VTEC engine.  Ran great, but threw a rod well after the 90 day warranty had already expired.  Wife and I decided to "upgrade" and put him into something newer to head off to college.  Therefore, we are now selling the car as it sits...with the blown motor.

AC blows ice cold and everything on the car works (minus the engine, as described above).  New clutch, brake pads and rotors (all 4 corners), and tires (again, all 4) were replaced within the last 5-7k miles.  Aftermarket CD radio with AUX input installed, original OEM CD player is also included.  Literally, upon the installation of a new motor, Buyer should have a fully functioning, last-year made, well taken care of Prelude for a fraction of the price.

Please see the provided pictures as to the general condition of the car.  If additional information or pictures are requested, please contact me as I will be glad to provide same via email.

Terms:
$500 deposit via PayPal is required within 24 hours of winning bid/offer.  Balance is due within 5 days from end of auction.  Car is sold "as is, where is" with no warranty, either express or implied.  No returns as all bids and final sale are legally binding.  By placing a bid, Buyer acknowledges car is currently in non-running condition and accepts sole responsibility for any/all transportation, towing, and like expenses.  Seller will gladly assist in that regard however possible.

Good luck and thanks for looking.  Cheers.

Honda opening first new motherland plant in almost 50 years

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Despite opening dozens of overseas plants in the past several decades in locations all over the globe, Honda Motor Co. has not expanded its car manufacturing capabilities in its home market of Japan since opening a facility in Sayama back in 1964.
But all of that is set to change this July when Honda opens the doors to a new assembly plant in Yorii, about two hours north of Tokyo. According to Bloomberg, the new facility has a projected annual capacity of 250,000 vehicles. The plant is part of the automaker's reorganization efforts, plans that include scaling back its older Sayama plant and bringing Yorii online with more efficient and innovative technology. There are additional benefits, too, as the Yorii plant is expected to create 3,800 jobs, both on-site and at its suppliers, and boost the local economy as other businesses ramp up to accommodate the influx of new workers.
While the automaker has not released specifics about which models will be produced at Yorii, Honda is expected to consolidate production of models including the Fit, a best-seller in its domestic market.

Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.

Honda marks 20 million vehicles made in the USA

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

Japanese automakers manufacturing in the United States is nothing new. But it was in November of 1982 when the first Honda Accord rolled off the assembly line in Marysville, OH. It was the first Japanese vehicle assembled in the US, and in the nearly 32 years since, Honda has made 10 million Accords here for a total of 20 million cars manufactured in America - enough to span from New York to San Francisco twenty times. It's that double landmark which Honda is now celebrating.
Honda has come a long way in those three decades, keeping that original plant in Marysville on line while expanding to three more - in East Liberty, OH; Lincoln, AL; and Greensburg, IN - with a fifth plant (the Performance Manufacturing Center) opening on the same site in Marysville to build the Acura NSX next year. It also builds engines in Lincoln and in Anna, OH, and automatic transmissions at Russells Point, OH, and Tallapoosa, GA.
Between those seven sites, Honda produces 11 different models, including the Accord, Civic, Crosstour, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey and Ridgeline as well as the Acura ILX, TL, RDX and MDX. Production keeps on ramping up as Honda produced a record 1.3 million vehicles in the US last year, 95 percent of which are sold in the US. Scope out the details in the press release below and click the image above to see it all laid out in a handy infographic.
