We are selling a 1999 Honda Prelude Type SH 5-speed manual with 180k miles.  It is black on black leather and very clean inside.  This Prelude is priced low because it needs work however it does run good.  The engine, transmission, and clutch are in excellent working condition.  The body is in nice shape aside from the hood and front bumper (please see all photos for exact condition).  It needs brakes and suspension work all around.  It has been hit in the front and not repaired perfectly.  It has a carbon fiber hood but the clearcoat is peeling badly.  Everything works inside, but the power windows and sunroof are very slow to move and sometimes get stuck.  It also has one different size tire in the rear and the car will need an alignment after it is all fixed up.  It has an aftermarket air intake system.  It can be driven anywhere the way it is but would suggest having it transported due to it needing brakes ASAP. That is everything we are aware of with this car.  Feel free to come inspect and drive it yourself before buying so you understand exactly what you are getting.  As I mentioned it is priced lower than a normal Type SH Prelude because it needs work.  This vehicle may or may not pass inspection in your state, it will be your responsibility to do the necessary repairs to get it passed (if necessary).  We take trades, and accept credit cards for full/partial payments. We can also arrange delivery anywhere in the country (ask for a quote). Feel free to call with any questions 516-543-4600. Thanks

Honda says Accord is America's best-selling car among actual consumers

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

The latest round of new vehicle registration data has been good for Honda - three of the Japanese brand's models are retail sales leaders and the Accord was the most registered car built in America in 2013, according to the data compiled by Polk. In fact, 360,089 units of the family sedan were purchased by individual consumers last year, an increase of 12.2 percent.
There was also good news from the Civic and CR-V camps, as those two models topped their respective segments in terms of retail (non-fleet) sales, with each notching over 300,000 registrations. Combined with the Accord, this trio of Hondas accounted for a whopping 1.11 million retail sales last year.
Honda spokesperson Sage Marie reflected on Polk's findings, telling Autoblog:

Honda spinning off Acura as stand-alone division in bid to wake up brand

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

Every major automaker has a different way of relating between its various divisions and brands. At Volkswagen, for example, the individual brands seem to operate with a large degree of autonomy. Under the Renault-Nissan Alliance, the two units share a common chief executive, but little else. The relationship between Honda and its luxury division Acura has always been rather close, but that's all about to change.
American Honda Motor Company has always handled sales and marketing in the North American market for both the Honda and Acura divisions, but new reorganization plans call for the two units to be separated under their own direction. Leading the Acura division will be Michael Accavitti, who moves into the position from his role as Senior Vice President for Auto Operations at American Honda. The Honda division will meanwhile be taken over by the current head of Acura sales, Jeff Conrad.
Both will report to John Mendel, the current executive vice president of the Automobile Sales Division that is being rebranded as the American Honda Auto Division. Unlike rivals Lexus and Infiniti - two brands that Acura beat to the market - Honda barely markets its luxury brand outside of North America. Its overseas presence is felt only in China, though we've yet to receive word on how the reorganization might effect that market - or for that matter, any potential of expanding into others.

Takata airbag victim looked like she had been stabbed

Tue, 21 Oct 2014

We generally take certain principals for granted. The more water you drink, for example, the healthier you'll be. The more time you spend reading car news on Autoblog, the better informed you'll be. And the more airbags your car has, the safer you'll be. Because airbags equal safety. But that's not what some unfortunate drivers of vehicles equipped with Takata airbags are finding, and tragically finding out the hard way.
In what could be the most startling incident resulting from the airbag debacle so far, a woman named Hien Tran of Orlando, FL, was killed by what looked at first like stab wounds on her neck. It later emerged that the fatal injuries could have been inflicted by the faulty airbag on her Honda Accord. Tran bought her Honda secondhand, and may not have been aware that the airbag issue had not been addressed by its previous owner in a previous recall in 2009.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death, but it wouldn't be the only injury resulting from the malfunctioning Takata airbags. The units, employed particularly by Japanese automakers like Honda (which owns part of Takata) and Toyota, are the subject of a massive recall involving some 14 million vehicles from 11 different automakers.
