1991 Honda Civic Wagon, 2wd on 2040-cars
Tucson, Arizona, United States
I bought this car from the previous owner in January of 2000 with 112K on it and it's been my daily driver ever since-- very dependable. I'm selling because I need a truck instead. (No trade offers, please, I've already purchased the truck.)
Mechanical: Burns a little oil. Power steering leaks a bit, although the Lucas power steering stop leak seems to be doing a decent job of handling that. AC works! Body: Minor dings, no rust. The left front fender and door were replaced about 7 years ago, after my dad backed into it in the driveway. ;-) Hence the slightly mismatched paint-- that's a clear coat issue. Interior: All upholstery except for driver's seat is in reasonably good shape. Driver's seat is worn through (see pic). There are some minor pry marks where somebody tried (unsuccessfully) to steal the stereo. Needs new rear hatch lift supports. Pretty much everything on this car is stock. It was stolen once, many years ago, and it came back to me missing its ashtray and its donut spare. I never replaced the ashtray. Replaced the spare with a full-size. It's a 91, so no ABS, no air bags, none of that safety stuff. Drive carefully, y'all. It's located in Tucson, AZ, and will not be shipped, so buyer is responsible for pickup. The car is being sold as-is-- no warranties, no returns, no givesies-backsies. Feel free to ask questions, request other pics, etc. On Sep-23-14 at 08:28:51 PDT, seller added the following information: EDIT: Forgot, because it hides behind the visor: There's a crack a few inches long at the top of the windshield. On Sep-23-14 at 11:28:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Because somebody asked: Timing belt was replaced at 208K. |

2014 Honda HPD CR-Z
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Honda invited us to its Southern California North American headquarters last week to take a spin in a very special CR-Z - one modified with a full complement of Honda Performance Development (HPD) components. While the company has been racing with HPD parts for years, this is the first time the automaker has offered them for its street-legal vehicles, and it has chosen this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas to be the launch venue. Last year, Honda introduced the HPD Supercharged CR-Z Concept at SEMA - this is the slightly modified production version.
The complete transformation gives the normally placid hybrid hatchback a serious shot of adrenaline thanks to a bolt-on supercharger combined with suspension, tire, brake and exhaust upgrades. In addition to the blower (detailed in a bullet point below), new HPD suspension components lower the car by about half an inch, and firmer spring rates stiffen the ride. Stock 16- or 17-inch wheels are then replaced with HPD 18-inch alloys wrapped in sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires (215/40ZR18 at all corners). The clutch is upgraded, a limited-slip differential is installed and new HPD monobloc four-piston calipers are fitted over slotted and ventilated iron rotors up front (the single-pistons over solid discs on the back axle are unchanged). In the rear, the stock hidden single exhaust pipe is replaced by a free-flow twin-tip exhaust that peers out of a new HPD lower diffuser. Other cosmetic enhancements include an HPD front lip spoiler, rear deck lid spoiler and an HPD emblem kit for each side. To say the CR-Z is transformed by the complete HPD package is an understatement.
Driving Notes
Honda's Euro Civic hatch getting facelift, too
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Honda's freshening of the Civic line isn't just limited to the North American market, as proven by these images of the Euro-spec model testing on Her Majesty's motorways.
According to our spies, this new Civic boasts a heavily restyled front fascia, with headlights and taillights that draw a quite a bit of inspiration from the Civic Type R Concept from the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
The restyled front fascia has a sportier lean, with more significant lateral intakes and what looks like a slightly larger lower intake. It's more difficult to make out details on the rear of the car, although we can spot a modest little diffuser and a larger integrated spoiler.
Honda CR-Z gets much-needed supercharger
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Honda has really taken its time in getting an aftermarket supercharger kit for the CR-Z to enthusiasts in the US. It's finally on sale, though, and it makes you wonder if the hybrid hatchback shouldn't have had it from the day it went on sale.
The supercharger kit developed by Honda Performance Development boosts output from the CR-Z's 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine to 197 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, according to Honda spokesperson Jessica Howell, an improvement of 67 hp and 36 lb-ft. It also adds an air-to-air intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors, a recalibrated ECU and new air filter for $5,495, before installation. However, the setup only works for six-speed manual transmission models from the 2013 and 2014 model years. If you want to take things even further, HPD is also offering an optional limited slip differential for $1,375 and sport clutch for $640, according to Howell.
Development of the supercharger kit has been ongoing for years. We first saw it on the CR-Z Mugen RZ in 2012 in Japan, in which it barely bumped power to 153 hp. Later at SEMA, Honda improved things to a more respectable 185 hp. Then in 2013, we actually got to drive an early version boasting 190 hp and found it a solid improvement over the stock powertrain. It appears Honda had some further tweaks to get things to the current 197 ponies. More good news: assuming you get the package installed at a dealer, the car maintains the balance of its 5 year/ 60,000 mile Honda limited powertrain warranty.
