THIS IS A NO RESERVE LISTING.

This is my 1992 GMC Typhoon with 27,957 original miles.  This is one of the cleanest, most original Typhoons in the country, and it is no doubt one of the best-quality Typhoon trucks for sale in the country.

This Typhoon is a pristine, museum-quality collector's vehicle in totally stock, unmodified condition.  If you have been looking for that "perfect" Typhoon, this is the one.

This is a two-owner vehicle since new, and this Typhoon has been owned by the same person for the past 20 years.  During that time, the car was always garaged and covered.  This truck has not seen rain, snow or salt in at least the last 20 years.

This is the proverbial "park it in the garage and rub it with a diaper" car.  You could not hope to find a cleaner, more original or better condition Typhoon anywhere.

The GMC Typhoon is a very rare ultra high-performance vehicle built by GM in the early 1990s.  This truck features the 4.3L V6 with a turbocharger plus AWD.  Horsepower was rated at 280 at the time, which was less than the actual output of over 300HP.  These Typhoons would go 0-60 in 5.3 seconds in an era when Ferraris couldn't even keep up.

Only 4697 Typhoons were produced in total, for model years 1992 and 1993 only.  In 1992, only 345 of them were made in this color, Apple Red.

Typhoons were luxurious as well as fast, and this one has leather seats, AWD, automatic transmission, A/C, factory AM/FM CD player, keyless entry plus power locks and windows.

I have the original books and manuals for this Typhoon plus two sets of keys.

The paint and body are absolutely gorgeous.  The paint is all original and it is in superb condition with no oxidation or fading.  There is absolutely no body rust.  The paint and body are so superb, you can hardly believe this car is 20 years old.  The paint is glossy, shiny and there is no wear, sun-fade, nor any exterior faults of any significance.

The factory aluminum wheels are in beautiful condition, and the truck has the correct Firestone Firehawk SVX tires with good tread.

The interior of this Typhoon still has the new car smell- really.  The interior shows NO wear- the leather is superb, the carpets and upholstery look new and the entire interior looks like the day it was made.  This an impossibly gorgeous and clean interior.  All of the switches, controls and plastics are tight and still feel and look like they did when they were new.

This Typhoon starts, runs and drives exactly how it should- which is just like new.  This truck is totally stock and not modified in any way.  It is exactly the way it was built by GM.  It runs and drives beautifully and if you wanted, there is no reason you couldn't drive this truck anywhere in the country.

The underside of this GMC is spotless- it is totally clean, solid and in beautiful condition.

This is a superb, collector's quality example of a rare vehicle- this Typhoon will never be worth less than it is today, and it will always continue to appreciate in value.

If you want to truly "nit-pick" a car this nice, here is what you will find: there are a few nearly imperceptible tiny dings on the side from "garage wear".  The driver's seat outside bolster foam is very slightly flattened.  And the left front plastic fender cladding is just the tiniest bit loose and vibrates slightly- this very minor vibration has worn the paint beneath the plastic trim.  These are exceedingly minor faults to find on a car this pristine.

This Typhoon belongs in a GM museum or a private car collection.  This is just an amazing car in every respect.

2015 GMC Canyon

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

As discussed earlier today, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is a new standout in terms of midsize trucks. But the Colorado wasn't the only pickup the General Motors team brought to San Diego for us to sample. Also along for the ride was a pack of GMC Canyons, the slightly more expensive and polished platform-mate to the Chevy.
There's no question that the Canyon and the Colorado are a lot alike under the skin - almost entirely, in fact - so GMC has worked to first create some daylight between the two trucks by way of sheetmetal. This is most obvious from the front view, where the blocky and blingy GMC grille replaces the more subdued tone and shape seen on the Chevy's nose. Projector headlights with LED running lights come as standard, and, again, with the squared-off look that is typical of the brand. 16-inch aluminum wheels come stock on the GMC, too, with the 17-inchers seen on my photo truck offered as standard equipment on the top-trim SLT.
GMC considers the Canyon to be the only premium truck in the segment (which is clearly true), and the team has spent a ton of time and effort to get the interior correct to prove out that point. "Any trim that looks like metal, is metal," I was told at the product briefing, a certain indication that the company is serious about bringing a new class of buyer to a truck segment that it hopes to redefine.

2015 GMC Yukon Denali

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

Automotive enthusiasts often wonder aloud - ourselves included - why General Motors would choose to keep GMC while sending Pontiac (and Saturn, and even Oldsmobile before it) into the great automotive graveyard in the sky. The answer, as is so often the case, is profit. It's much easier for GM to rake in money hand over fist by rejiggering the trucks, crossovers and SUVs that it would already be developing for Chevrolet and making them a bit more luxurious and *ahem* "Professional Grade" with new grilles, badges and unique packaging for GMC.
While it may sound like we're being cynical, we totally approve of GM's fullsize SUV strategy. The least-expensive way to get into the fold is with the Chevrolet Tahoe, which starts at $45,595 with a 5.3-liter V8 engine and a cloth interior. Bumping that same Chevy to LTZ trim and its $59,995 sticker price lands a much nicer leather-clad interior and more techno-bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at. But it still looks like a Tahoe, and it still comes with the smaller 5.3-liter engine. Or, you could do what we'd do: Walk into your GMC dealer and take a look at the Yukon Denali. Here's why.

2015 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL hit the floor at LA

Thu, 21 Nov 2013

The middle child of General Motors' trio of truck-based SUVs, the GMC Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL, received their auto show debut at today's 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Showing off a bigger, bolder look, particularly on its Denali trim, the Yukon sports prominent chrome grille instantly identifies GMC's new top-end SUV.
The Yukon is will come to market with a pair of engines. The base 5.3-liter V8 pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, while the higher-end models benefit from the same direct-injected, 6.2-liter V8 as the Escalade. That engine makes 420 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, with fuel economy seeing a likely boost thanks to an active fuel management system. Like the Tahoe, Suburban and Escalade, the Yukon takes advantage of a six-speed, column-mounted automatic transmission.
The cabin has seen significant upgrades in terms of materials and technology, with an eight-inch touchscreen display and IntelliLink standard in both Yukon and Yukon Denali. Fold-flat second and third-row seats come standard, while a power option is available, as well. Other techy features include active noise cancellation and standard Bose stereos.
