1993 Gmc Sonoma on 2040-cars
Blanding, Utah, United States
I have never listed a truck on ebay, so here goes. This Sonoma has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It really deserves to be restored. It runs great, uses a little oil, about 1 quart in 1000 miles. Gas mileage is 25 mpg highway. It has the deluxe cab interior, lights and mirrors on the visors etc. Windshield is new.
Here is a list of things wrong with this truck: 1. It needs shocks 2. It needs a paint job very much 3. It needs driver door panel arm rest 4. It has a radio, cassette which is very lame 5. It needs front tires. The back tires are okay 6. The air conditioning doesn't work 7. The driver side front fender was repainted and doesn't match the rest of the truck 8. One front break rotor might be warped, it pulsates a little when the break is applied 9. The exhaust temp sensor is not working, the engine idles too fast when it first starts up, then slows down when warm 10. The gold trim down both sides is in bad condition, needs to be replaced 11. The seat is in bad condition and has a seat cover installed. There is a camper shell not shown in the photo. It goes with the truck if you want it. There has been a bed liner since new. I added a third photo which shows part of the camper shell. In the winter when I come home from work my chickens like to jump up on the hood to get their feet warm. :) Ask me questions if you need more info or detailed photos I am happy do provide. |

GM planning to put its fullsize pickups on a big diet, too
Fri, 19 Jul 2013General Motors is just coming off a complete redesign of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra for 2014, but in the US fullsize truck market, there is no rest for the weary. According to Reuters, plans are already unfurling for both trucks to drop pounds from their curb weight over the next few years, but this will unlikely be able to keep pace with the 700-pound diet targeted for the next-generation Ford F-150, a truck expected to debut late next year.
The biggest weight reduction for these trucks might not be available until the next full redesign, which will likely happen around 2019, but the article says that smaller updates could shave pounds in the meantime. Two examples given include an "aluminum-intensive" version of the Silverado that could shed 250 pounds and debut around the same time as the lighter-weight, aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford, and there is also talk of reducing weight for driveline components such as axles and driveshafts. These changes are all part of an attempt to meet strict new fuel economy standards coming in 2017, targets which will get even tougher in 2025.
GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
GM tinkering with Silverado, Sierra model mix amidst strong early sales
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.
