Up for bid is my 1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport Fastback. This Torino has been well cared for with few owners. I am currently the 3rd owner. I purchased this Torino from Alabama 13 years ago with 54,000 original miles on it. To my knowledge this car was purchased new in Alabama and stayed there until I brought it to Mississippi. This was my first car and a daily driver for me for many years. It has actually been the most dependable vehicle I've owned, which is quite funny considering the age. The car was repainted back the original color around 11 years ago and shortly after won the only car show I ever entered it in. But being an every day driver it does have some wear on the paint such as chips, fades, and flakes which are all minor. The cars interior is mostly original from the factory. This is the sport interior with bucket seats and automatic in the floor console. I'm not much of a bench seat fan for my sports cars. I did replace the carpet which is now faded a bit but that's a simple fix. The seats are original but have just a few seams starting to separate. the headliner also has a small separation of a few inches in the back corner. Other than that the interior is in great original shape. The dash is crack free which is a big deal. The door panels, console, and everything else is well preserved also. As for the body there are a few small rust spots on the passenger side and some on the chrome. Also some minor damage to the passenger rear corner which mostly just chipped the paint more than anything. None of these I would consider major. Other than that the body is excellent! All gaps line up perfect. The doors, hood, and trunk all close very easily and smoothly with the push of a finger. All of the windows are in working order and all of the glass is without a crack, chip, peck or blemish anywhere. The trunk is solid and includes the original Polyglas GT spare. The lights and signals are all in great condition. This Torino has been driven less than 100 miles since the carburetor and tires were replaced new. Also, the dual exhaust (although original) sounds great. This car currently has 82,166 actual miles on it and a NADA average retail of over $11,000.00. I also have some extra emblems and a few other things that will go with the car. This is a rare find. Bid with confidence. Congratulations to the winning bidder!

How the Ford Shelby Mustang came to be
Fri, 20 Sep 2013Even as rumors swirl that the next-generation of high-performance Ford Mustang will drop the Shelby name, Ford has released a short video telling how the legend of the Shelby Mustang came to be. In its latest installment of its video series entitled Mustang Countdown, Ford dug up some footage from Carroll Shelby to give a little insight into how this automotive icon was created.
While it's definitely interesting to hear the late legend tell the story in his own words (including numerous references to the 1964 Mustang as a "secretary's car"), it's also pretty funny learning exactly how the Shelby GT350 got its name in the first place - a name allegedly making a comeback as the replacement for the current Shelby GT500. As development work continues on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the Shelby video posted below shows that the automaker is always looking at its past - even as it looks ahead to the future.
Ford bondage ads reportedly trigger firings at Indian ad agency
Wed, 27 Mar 2013You will probably remember the ads for the Ford Figo hatchback in India, the ones that showcased the extra large boot of the little hatchback by joking that you can fit three of your enemies in the trunk. One of the ads had Michael Schumacher in the front seat, obviously pleased about having Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso tied up in the back. But the other two had Paris Hilton and ex-Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi up front and three bound and gagged women in the back - in Hilton's case (shown above), it was the Kardashians.
This did not go over well, and Reuters reports that certain employees at JWT India have been fired over the matter. It is also reported that the images weren't actual advertisements, nor were they part of an actual campaign; JWT said they "were never intended for paid publication, were never requested by our Ford client." A JWT rep said the employees who created the ads did so on their own, Ford commented to Automotive News that the ads were "part of a creative exercise intended to test concepts for an advertising competition."
The problem, if the story is to be believed, is that the employees skipped the regular review protocols and uploaded their work to an ad industry site - they were found on Ads of the World. That page, like the employees, has been removed.
Your official Ford Transit specs are here, $29,565* to start
Wed, 04 Jun 2014Ford has released the full list of pricing and specs on its new Transit, the replacement for the long-lived E-Series cargo van. Prices are set to start at $29,565 and can increase rapidly from there, depending on length, engine and wheelbase, among other options.
Let's talk first about those new engines. The base is the familiar 3.7-liter, naturally aspirated V6. It boasts 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and can return up to 14 miles per gallon in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. This engine can also be adapted to run on LPG or compressed natural gas. Of course, there are better alternatives, for a price, the first of which is Ford's well-received, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. It packs 310 hp and a best-in-class 400 lb-ft of torque (available at just 2,500 rpm) while matching the naturally aspirated engine in both city and highway fuel economy.
Then, there's the diesel. With a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel mill at its disposal, the Transit generates 350 lb-ft between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm, along with 185 hp. This engine hasn't been rated by the EPA, although we'd be really, really surprised if it didn't handily best either of the gas-powered engines in fuel efficiency. A six-speed automatic is standard, regardless of engine.
