US $18,950.00
Year:1961 Mileage:93342
Location:

1961 Ford Thunderbird

This beautiful 1961 Ford T-Bird was purchased with the intention of showing it this up-coming car show season, but it doesn't appear myself or my family will be showing this one as much as we would like.  Therefore, I would like to give someone else an opportunity to own this car great car.

Beautiful colors and a nice original Bird.  Only 93,000 miles, numbers matching, and garage kept it's entire life.  Older restoration of a nice original car that still looks good and drives well.  This will be a good investment and a fun car for the next owner :-)

Details/Features:

  • 390ci V8 Engine (300 hp, 4 BBL)
  • Cruise-O-Matic Transmission (Automatic)
  • Power Steering
  • Power Brakes
  • Power Windows
  • Power Top (not working)
  • Power Seat
  • Deluxe Radio
  • "Swing Away" Steering Wheel
  • Dual Exhaust
  • Windshield Washer
  • Factory Tinted Glass
  • Fender Skirts
  • Recent brakes, tune-up, etc.

The engine runs great, makes good power, and starts well every time.  The transmission also shifts well.  The car gets down the road and will flow with modern traffic effortlessly.  All the gauges, lights, and horn work (clock is correct only twice a day).  Original radio works too!  Steers and stops with ease.  It is ready to drive and enjoy right away.

This Ford is a nice original survivor car that has been painted many years ago.  It does have chips, scratches, and flaws due to age and driving.  Lots of great looking factory original chrome and other unrestored original features.  Good floors and under-carriage.  Needs a new cloth top eventually and some trouble shooting to get the power top mechanism going again (relay?).  The interior is beautiful!  Seats have been re-upholstered in the not too distant past.  Overall, it's a sharp looking and driving Ford.  NOT A PERFECT CAR, but not priced like one ...  Please bid what you wish to pay (I may add a "Buy it now" price later in the listing).

Original carburetor, air cleaner, and books included.

I welcome inspections and appraisers.  Shown by appointment.

Ford readying 2015 F-150 drift truck for SEMA

Sun, 19 Oct 2014

Between the Mustangs you'd find in Formula D and the Fiestas in the Global and World rallycross championships, there's no shortage of Ford drift cars on the scene. But at the upcoming SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Blue Oval automaker intends to show off a different kind of drift machine.
Created in collaboration with driftmeister Vaughn Gittin, Jr., this custom F-150 has been designed for "on- and off-road capabilities, as well as drifting and jumping." It's got a suspension with components from Kibbetech King and Air Lift Performance to give it 12 inches of travel and comes packed with 5 Recaro seats. Other details remain limited, but if the rendering above is anything to go by, it ought to be pretty awesome.
Alongside the Gittin truck, Ford will also be showcasing another F-150 designed together with freestyle motorcross rider Brian Deegan, packing the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and a long list of enhancements. Between these two trucks, Ford hopes to extend its winning streak for the Hottest Truck award that it's taken four years running now. Feel free to read more in the press release below.

Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86

Wed, 26 Jun 2013

On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
