Just in time for summer, you are viewing an absolute cream puff, one owner 2002 Thunderbird which has been treated like a child in the family since the day I took possession of this beauty on October 25, 2001.  This was one of the first new generation Thunderbirds to come off the production line and the very first one delivered to the dealership in Ridgewood, New Jersey (Ridgewood Ford, which is now out of business).  I had the car on order for over a year prior to delivery.  The car has the original Thunderbird Blue exterior color which was only produced for the first year of production in 2002 and then discontinued, so it is highly desirable.  The car still turns heads wherever it goes given its pristine condition. The interior is all black, including black leather seats and black leather shifter.  No cutesy two toned interior here.

The cell phone photos attached couldn't possibly do this car justice.  There is not a scratch, ding or ping on this car.  I always parked it away from the crowd, like a true car nut.  It's never been painted, or damaged in any way whatsoever, not even touch up paint.  No smoking has ever occurred in the car.  It has never seen snow and has been stored every day since delivery in a heated/dry garage.  It has been meticulously maintained with oil changes every 3000 miles and any/all maintenance has been performed at my local high line mechanics over the years since I didn't even trust the dealership with their own brand.

Despite the fact that this car has 60,655 miles on it (less than 5,000 miles a year on average), the car literally looks like it just came out of the showroom.  Much of the mileage is highway miles.  The interior of the car shows minimal wear with both seats in excellent condition.  The car comes with all original equipment, including the matching Thunderbird Blue removable hard top which has never been used on the car after taking delivery, so it is absolutely perfect.  It sits on the original stand ordered from Ford.  It also has the original convertible top boot which has never been used, both original keys with alarm key-fobs, the original window sticker and receipt from the dealership which you will note the $6,000 over sticker paid for the privilege of being the first in Northern New Jersey to grace the roads with this jewel.  It also comes with all the original books and papers, nothing was tossed or lost. Lastly, as an extra neat bonus, I have the two original Motor Trend Magazines from March, 1999 and October, 1999 with cover feature articles on the new Thunderbird, which will also be provided in the sale to add to the collectibility of this wonderful automobile.

Tires and brakes are excellent.  The Convertible top is in perfect condition.  The A/C is like ice.  The pick up, speed, shifting and handling of this car are all a pleasure, the perfect blend of speed, power and luxury car ride (Ford used the LIncoln LS frame and base for this car).  It truly drives as good today as it did the first day I drove off the showroom floor.  Even the original chrome wheels are gem mint with virtually no curb rash whatsoever.

The only minor flaw is an ever so slight touch to one of the black protective bumpers around the license plate which cannot be noticed in the photos.  If the model had not been totally discontinued by Ford in 2005, one would think this to be a brand new car without exception.

There may be other examples of 2002 Ford Thunderbirds on the market with less mileage, but there is no doubt that you will not find one in better overall condition than this, bar none.  I welcome independent professional inspections of this vehicle by prospective buyers.

Motor Trend recently ranked this generation Ford Thunderbird as one of the ten most likely "future classic cars" because of its very small production run each year during its short 4 year lifespan as a model.

Moving across country with no room to store an extra vehicle and my son is going to college, so someone is going to get lucky with this outstanding example of a future classic in just the right color and equipment.

Serious Inquiries only please as the car is priced fairly given its pristine condition and desirability.

The winning bidder will be responsible for $1,000 deposit via paypal within 24 hours after purchase with the balance due in certified funds.

I will assist in shipping if necessary, but buyer must arrange directly with shipper and pay shipper as well.

The vehicle is available for inspection upon appointment in Northern New Jersey.

2015 Ford Mustang to make world debut on Dec. 5 [w/video]

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

Between a bevvy of spy shots, speculative renders and insidery images from the halls of Car and Driver, we've got a pretty decent idea of what the 2015 Ford Mustang might look like. Still, we're excited to see the real deal as soon as possible.
Turns out that Ford has told us just when that first official look might come, too, although it has chosen somewhat of a backdoor fashion for dropping the news.
The video below popped up on the Ford Mustang YouTube channel this morning, promoting a social media effort called #MustangInspires on. The video and hashtag ask fans of the pony car to share pictures of the car - or "photographic stories of inspiration" - on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. But the truly interesting part of the video description is that which mentions taking "the cover off the all-new Mustang" on December 5. Consider our calendars marked.

Ford recalling nearly 700k Escape CUVs, C-Max hybrids over two separate safety issues

Fri, 09 May 2014

Poor Escape. Ever since its launch in 2012, Ford's small CUV has been the subject of many, many, many recalls. And today, The Detroit News is reporting that Ford is adding two more recalls to the 2013-14 model year Escape's permanent record, one of them also involves the C-Max hybrid hatchback.
The first recall, covering 692,500 Escape and C-Max vehicles, is due to a software glitch that could cause the airbags - specifically, the safety canopy - to not deploy in a timely fashion during rollover crashes. According to the News, Ford says no crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this problem.
The second recall, covering 692,700 Escapes, is related to the door handles. The News reports that the exterior door handles could open while the vehicle is in motion, and could also fail to latch properly. Once again, no crashes or injuries have occurred because of this. The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration has not issued an official notice on either recall as of this writing.

Mulally wanted to kill Lincoln as late as last year, Fields vows to turn it around

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

Lincoln fans might want to give incoming Ford CEO Mark Fields a pat on the back for having a hand in saving the brand from the chopping block last year. He's among the people spearheading the rejuvenation of the division away from its stodgy image to appeal to younger customers.
According to two unnamed sources speaking to Bloomberg, CEO Alan Mulally was ready to kill Lincoln last year. Following the slow production ramp-up of the MKZ combined a with a costly ad campaign, Mulally was frustrated and openly suggested dropping the brand. However, Fields and Jim Farley, Ford's marketing boss, convinced the CEO that the brand was worth saving. They also created a plan to prevent similar problems for new models in the future.
It seems that one part of the strategy may involve waiting until new models are at dealers before starting a big ad campaign for them. Lincoln global director, Matt VanDyke, recently told Autoblog that the division is holding off on a full marketing push behind the new MKC crossover to prevent the supply problems that plagued the MKZ last year. Its big offensive begins in the fall when the CUVs are at all of the dealers and consumers are at home watching more TV. VanDyke also told Bloomberg that Fields, Farley and Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, have more direct oversight over new product launches now.
