1963 Ford Thunderbird - Rare Pink Color on 2040-cars
Spillville, Iowa, United States
FOR SALE is our 1963 pink thunderbird with low original miles...This has the rare pink color and rare rose beige interior...There was a repaint in 79 but still looks good.. There was small dent on driver's front fender while in storage last winter and has been fixed with new molding... We put new headliner and new door panels on last fall... Our interior restoration guy also freshened up the rest of the vinyl.. With the exception of fronts seats, which show some age, interior is great!! Before we bought it, previous owner had the transmission rebuilt, brake work done, radiator repair and new tires.. Things we have done to car in last 3 years and have receipts are: new shocks, new brake booster and master cylinder, like new exhaust manifolds, fuel sending unit, and idler arm in front end and aligned...Also had motor pulled and new gaskets put in while repainting of motor, valve covers, air cleaner, etc. and carb rebuilt... This is a very solid car with only minor imperfections that drives real nice and runs great.. There is an oil change sticker on the door showing that in 1982, there was only 55,733 miles, now only 58,202... Data plate is: Body Color Trim Date DSO Axle Trans. 63A L 51 O6L 34 1 4 I have explained things to the best of my knowledge and vehicle is ,as is, with no warranty.. I have car for sale locally and reserve right to end auction early.. I can assist with shipping in the states only by giving information to carrier I used! J Mays' legacy
Fri, 15 Nov 2013
Mays is by far not the first designer to use heritage design cues in his work.
The announcement that J Mays will be leaving his chief creative officer role at Ford Motor Company on January 1 ends a 13-year run in one of the industry's top design roles. While best known for having a hand in reborn classics like the Volkswagen New Beetle, Ford Mustang and Thunderbird (above), Mays' legacy is more complicated and nuanced than being considered the father of what is known as "retrofuturism".
Ford looks to space robots to improve car-to-car communications [w/video]
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Ford has partnered with St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for three years to research various kinds of connected vehicle communications. The university tie-up is part of its study of space robots, NASA systems created to enable space-to-Earth communication, and the university's own development of systems that enable communication between the International Space State and Earth.
The objective is for Ford to engineer layers of robust networks and redundancy systems that will allow your car to speak to other cars, to emergency vehicles, to infrastructure like traffic lights and buildings, and to the cloud. Benefits would come in just about every area of transit, from avoiding accidents, to getting medical workers to an accident more quickly, to improving the flow of traffic during rush hour.
Check out the press release below for details on what Ford wants to learn from the JUSTIN Humanoid and NASA Robonaut R2, and a video of technical leader Oleg Gusikhin discussing his interest in the project.
