I WANT TO BREAK IT DOWN ON WHAT THIS TRUCK IS 100 PERCENT.  I DRIVE IT EVERYDAY, NOT A WEEKEND CRUISER OR A CAR SHOW TRUCK ITS DRIVEN EVERY SINGLE DAY RAIN OR SHINE. I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR RIDE, ITS NEVER LEFT ME STRANDED. AS FAR AS I UNDERSTAND THIS TRUCK HAS 34K ACTUAL MILES. THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAD IT IN A GARAGE AND BUILT IT HERE AND THERE OVER A 10 YEAR SPAN AND SO WHEN IT WAS BACK ON THE ROAD IT CAME BACK WITH LOW MILEAGE. IT DOES HAVE A BIT OF A SPUTTER WHEN IT IS COLD BUT GETS MUCH BETTER AS IT WARMS UP. I BELIEVE IT NEEDS A TUNE UP BUT IT DOESNT EFFECT THE PERFORMANCE AT ALL OF THE TRUCK, IT RUNS,DRIVES, STOPS, STEERS ALL AS IT SHOULD. IT HAS A RUB THROUGH JOB DONE TO IT AND IS LAYED OVER IN CANDY RED. THE STEREO POUNDS, ITS ALL MEMPHIS AND KENWOOD AND ALL BRAND NEW EXCEPT THE AMP. BRAND NEW KENWOOD 5X8 IN DOORS ON A MEMPHIS EQ AND BRAND NEW MEMPHIS 12 IN A CUSTOM BOX PUSHED BY A KENWOOD 800 AMP. THE BAGS ARE ALL HALF INCH ON 10 SWITCHES. THIS TRUCK HAS NO LEAKS OR TICKS OR KNOCKS. IT SOUNDS GOOD AND WOULD HONESTLY BE A GREAT RELIABLE DAILY CRUISER OR FIX A FEW THINGS AND MAKE IT MORE OF A SHOW TRUCK. THIS TRUCK HAS 19 INCH RIMS AND TIRES. THE LOWERING AND BODY DROP WAS DONE NICELY. DROPPED I BEAMS AND 4 LINK EXT. ALL THE FRAME WORK FOR THE BODY DROP LOOKS GREAT. THERE IS NO BED FLOOR UNDER THE BED COVER. IT IS WHAT IT IS.

Watch how a Ford Raptor rolls down the assembly line in Dearborn

Sun, 30 Mar 2014

Bloomberg TV reporter Matt Miller is the proud new owner of a pretty killer truck. How do we know? The reporter headed to Dearborn, MI to Ford's assembly plant, with a film crew in tow, to see exactly how his new F-150 SVT Raptor and its mother-loving 6.2-liter V8 engine, was screwed together.
The resulting video does an excellent job of summing up how an assemblage of parts and pieces is turned into a triple-black Raptor, thanks to the work of some 1,000 employees and about 20 hours of real time. Click through below to see how the truck is born, with a surprise cameo playing the part of delivery driver at the end.

We spy the Ford Mustang King Cobra early at SEMA

Tue, 04 Nov 2014

As is the case with most auto shows, waiting for the reveal of hot new models is the worst part. So, while our own Drew Phillips has been wandering the halls here in Las Vegas since they unlocked the doors for SEMA 2014, we didn't expect him to come back with any big reveals until later in the day. Until this happened.
Meandering by the Ford stand, Phillips eagle-eyed a trunk lid that caught his attention. Popping out from an otherwise draped 2015 Mustang, the matte black lid clearly has the name King Cobra embossed on the rear.
That name is interesting for a few reasons: to start, Ford hasn't used the Cobra name (without "Jet" attached) since way back in 2004, so a new snake is certainly something to take note of. Second, the King Cobra name dates all the way back to the ill-remembered Mustang II, meaning there is a clear link to Blue Oval history here.

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
