Up for sale is a fully refurbished, F550 Service truck that I have spent an entire year working on.  First let me begin that both the truck and the Maintainer service body were never exposed to any salt, so they are both completely rust free.  The truck was a flat bed in Louisiana so it has had a very easy life, the body is completely rust free.  All brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, fenders are perfect. It truely looks like a new truck underneath.  The service body was used on sight in a quarry so it never saw a salty road.  I spent a year looking for the right truck for this body.  I built this truck to last me 10 years as I run a small independant mechanic shop.  Well 2 months ago I recieved a job offer to work for a large Pipeline company, as faith would have it I could not pass it up.  So now someone else is going to get a beatiful truck.
Begining with the truck, it is a low mileage 165k, f550, 6-speed, cruise, AC, tilt, Xl interior truck.  The truck was fully stripped down to bare metal and primerd with Dupont DP epoxy primer, then the truck was painted with PPG White base coat and clear coat.  The truck recieved all new light bulbs, new decals, New windshield, I fully serviced the truck, including new belt, fuel filter, engine oil and filter, new alternator, new batteries, new PTO, and new IPC sensor and pigtail.  There are many more various parts which were changed, but after a year it becomes hard to remember them all! The truck has excellant tires, drives well shifts well(4th gear does sometimes grind on fast downshifts typical of ZF6's).  Also the truck has lots of power, I looked for a 1999 because it had the best 7.3 diesel, with the true forged rods! Again the truck is rust free,  Also I have driven the truck nearly 1800 miles as I bought it in texas, drove it across the pan handle flat towing my explorer, and then drove it from Florida to Illinois, with a 6000lb load on the flatbed.  The truck does not use any oil, and does not leak puddles on the ground.   This truck was made when the F550 was at the top of its game, this is not a Junk 6.0, or 6.4 diesel, NO EMISSIONS to worry about on this engine!

Now to the Service body.  The service body is a Maintainer 11ft body.  With a fully Hydraulic 2 stage 6000lb crane,  Also the truck has a Hydraulic 25cfm air compressor, and a NEW Lincoln ranger 225 welder, the welder has zero hours!   The service body was fully stripped, with the doors being soda blasted, painted with DP epoxy primer, then painted with Dupont Delstar enamel paint.  I DID NOT paint the crane on this truck, as the paint was not bad, and to properly paint a crane it should be disassembled.  Inside the Service box are 3 tool boxes, a parts bin rack, and a large hose reel.  Maintainer is the Cadillac of service bodies, they are the best hands down.  NOTHING compares to a Maintainer, period.

Im sure there will be a lot of questions, and I will take any pictures which are requested.  I spent a ton of time building this truck, and spent a ton of time to perfect this service truck.  Any one who wishes to see this truck is welcome to see it, also the truck is for sale outside of ebay so I can cancell the auction at any time,  Also to replace this truck right now would cost over 115k!

2014 Ford Fiesta Titanium

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

You might not be interested in owning a subcompact (B-segment) hatchback for $20,000. Let's be clear from the get go here: there are any number of reasonable arguments for staying away from the highest-content versions of these small cars. Ford's player in the B-segment arena is the newly updated 2014 Fiesta, and the Titanium trim represents the most luxurious instantiation of the model. We recently were loaned a Fiesta Titanium for a week, whose final sticker price hit $20,390, with navigation being the only standalone option added to the bottom line. By way of comparison, the most basic version of the all new, one-segment-up Mazda3 hatchback costs $19,740 with delivery and destination accounted for, and no options added on.
Hold on to that thought for a moment, we'll get back to it.

MyFord Touch getting buttons and knobs back to counter criticisms

Mon, 17 Jun 2013

Ford deserves credit for being a front-runner in offering advanced infotainment technology with its Sync and MyFord Touch systems, but continued consumer complaints over its confusing touchscreen interface and capacitive controls has made the automaker relent. The Wall Street Journal reports that physical buttons and knobs for controlling tuning and volume will be coming back to Ford vehicles equipped with the controversial infotainment system.
The 2013 F-150 with MyFord Touch gives us a glimpse of what the new layout with buttons and knobs might look like, as Ford says a similar balance of touch screen capability and buttons/knobs are what's being planned for future models. And, while capacitive controls have no fans in the halls of Autoblog, many of Ford's models with MyFord Touch do have a large physical knob for adjusting volume with integrated buttons for tuning and advancing tracks, though most of those are models with the optional upgraded Sony Audio system. Lincoln models with MyLincoln Touch, however, feature only capacitive controls for all stereo and climate functions.
Despite receiving enough complaints to throw buttons and knobs back into the mix (a move that reminds us of BMW's iDrive trajectory, among others), Ford reports that Sync and MyFord Touch have still been sold on 79 percent of its 2013 model year vehicles, a number it claims is double the rate that Honda and Toyota are getting for their infotainment systems. Ford also states that owners who do opt for the duo of technologies are more satisfied with overall vehicle quality than those who don't have it.

Ford Explorer, Expedition next to go aluminum?

Sun, 13 Apr 2014

Ford made some serious waves when it unveiled the latest F-150. Instead of making its bodywork out of steel, like just about every other truck on the market, Ford went with aluminum. And you can bet the F-150 won't be the last Ford model to go with the lightweight alloy construction, either.
Our compatriots at Edmunds report that Dearborn is considering replacing two of its most popular SUVs with aluminum versions. One candidate is the Expedition, which would make sense considering that the current model (like the two preceding generations and the fullsize Bronco before it) is based on the F-150's underpinnings. Another is the Explorer, which was traditionally based on the Ranger pickup but went with a car-like unibody chassis in its current iteration. If the Explorer does go the way of aluminum, don't expect it to be a part of its very next update, which is likely due too soon for such major changes.
It would stand to reason that, if the Expedition were to go aluminum, so would the next-generation Lincoln Navigator. Ditto the MKT together with the Explorer. But those aren't likely to be the only models in contention for aluminum construction. Like any other automaker, Ford is under pressure to steadily reduce its carbon emissions and improve its fuel economy figures, prompting it to look at a whole range of measures - including more efficient engines, lower rolling-resistance tires, active aerodynamics and lightweight construction. Expect aluminum to play a big part in that equation moving forward.
