1978 Ford Courier,  1.8L engine, 5 speed manual transmission, 93726 miles. The truck is in good mechanical condition. The body is in descent shape. There are a few small dents and dings on the truck and the front bumper has a dent in it on the passenger side. The paint is faded, with some surface rust, more on the passenger side than on the driver's side. The interior is in good shape. The dash pad is cracked, mostly around where the speaker is. Seat and door panels are in good shape. All the glass is good. The floor pans are also in great shape.I bought this truck a couple years ago with 85k original miles and title in hand. After I purchased it, I rebuilt the carb, replaced the brakes, cleaned the gas tank and put new tires on it. I started driving it to work, 38 miles each way and averaged 30-32mpg. Local driving it averaged 28-30 mpg. After driving it a little while I noticed that the valve guide seals were dried out, so I had the head removed and a complete valve job done. The truck runs great and does not smoke. The only issues I'm aware of is the turn signal return inside the steering column is broken out so you have to manually turn the turn signals off and the emergency brake connector inside the passenger side rear wheel is broken.

This truck would be great for a daily driver or for restoration.

I have tried to describe this vehicle the best I can and I hope the pictures help out.

Mileage may increase a small amount during auction.

I reserve to end the auction.

Cash purchase or Certified Cashiers Check. All money will clear before vehicle is released.

Thanks

Ford issues six recalls covering 101,000 vehicles for multiple issues

Tue, 08 Jul 2014

Ford is announcing six separate recalls for a variety of issues affecting a dozen models and a total of 100,610 vehicles in North America. However, according to Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker, "None of them have caused accidents or injuries." Half of them cover fewer than 1,000 cars.
The largest recall covers 92,022 North American examples (about 83,250 in the US) of some models of the Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS, Ford Interceptor, Flex and Lincoln MKT from the 2013 and 2014 model years; the 2012-2014 Edge and the 2014 Lincoln MKX. All of them have a potential issue with the halfshaft on the right side that might not be fully seated and could move outward over time. If it shifts too far, the models may no longer be able to drive, and the condition could also allow the vehicles to roll away, even when in Park. Dealers will inspect the shaft to make sure it's seated and will replace the part if necessary.
The next-largest recall covers 5,264 North American examples (4,867 in the US) of the Ford F59 Commercial Stripped Chassis from the 2011-2014 model years. It's possible that an electrical junction box can corrode in areas with salty roads and short circuit. The problem could potentially cause a fire. Dealers will replace the box with an improved design.

Ford partnering with MIT, Stanford on autonomous vehicle research

Fri, 24 Jan 2014

Ask any car engineer what's the biggest variable in achieving fuel economy targets, and he'll tell you "the driver." If one human can't understand human driving behavior enough to be certain about an innocuous number like miles per gallon, how is an autonomous car supposed to figure out what hundreds of other drivers are going to do in the course of a day? Ford has enlisted the help of Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to find out.
Starting with the automated Fusion Hybrid introduced in December, MIT will be developing algorithms that driverless cars can use to "predict actions of other vehicles and pedestrians" and objects within the three-dimensional map provided by its four LIDAR sensors.
The Stanford team will research how to extend the 'vision' of that LIDAR array beyond obstructions while driving, analogous to the way a driver uses the entire width of a lane to see what's ahead of a larger vehicle in front. Ford says it wants to "provide the vehicle with common sense" as part of its Blueprint for Mobility, preparing for an autonomous world from 2025 and beyond.

Ford and 'Dirty Jobs' pitchman Mike Rowe part ways [w/videos]

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

Former Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe has one less job as of today - the pitchman is no longer a pitchman for Ford, with yesterday's announcement from Rowe ending a seven-year partnership between the TV host and the Blue Oval.
Rowe made the announcement to political pundit Glenn Beck, saying the two are "going in different directions" and wishing Ford "every possibly success that any car company could ever have," according to The Detroit News. Rowe and Ford got together in 2005, right around the time the 51-year-old came to prominence as the host of Dirty Jobs and the narrator for Deadliest Catch, two of the Discovery Channel's most popular shows.
Take a look below for a few video snippets of Rowe's tenure at Ford.
