Up for auction is a great start to a 1946 Ford Pickup restoration project. The Truck retains its original flathead V8 and 3 Speed manual transmission that were rebuilt by the previous owner. I pulled the plugs and it appears that the engine only has assembly lube in it and has not been fired since the rebuild. It turns freely by hand. The same goes for the trans. We pulled the shifter cover and plate off and it is extremly clean and gears appear to be new. We cleaned and painted the exterior of both of them and re-installed. I do not know much about the flatheads so I am not attempting to make it run. It is complete minus exhuast manifolds from air cleaner to oil pan. The chassis is in great shape. It has had new king pins, springs, and steering parts placed. The original shocks were cleaned and re-mounted but not hooked up. It was also sand-blasted and painted. The cab is original sheetmetal. as are the doors fender and hood. All super solid, they recieved minor body work, primed, and painted with a single stage urethane paint. The fenders were done the same but left in a satin black finish. The bed comes with the truck but will need fairly extensive repair, it is not rusty but has obviously been used as a truck in its day. The rear fenders are nearly beyond repair but also come with the truck. I was going to make it a flatbed so none of this was going to be needed anyway. Also coming with the truck is an extra complete rear end and most of the parts to finish up the truck. All of the rubber seals in the cab, weatherstripping, etc. have been replaced with new. New heater hoses, the heater box was gone through and yes it does work when hooked up to a battery. The wiring harness appears to be new or an unbelievable original. New tail lights, plexiglass windows, and hoses. I also have new faces for the gauges in all the receipts for the new products.  What it pictured is what you get. I have a clear title in hand. Plethora of 2015 Ford F-150 customs runs the gamut at SEMA

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Of Ford's customized trucks, two feature the name of famous Ford racers.
Of all the OEMs making appearances at the 2014 SEMA show, Ford owns arguably the most significant group of vehicles, thanks to its new 2015 F-150 and Mustang. While you can look for our Mustang coverage soon, we've managed to sneak out and get snaps of some of a few of the F-150s on display at the company's sprawling, 20,000-square-foot display (look for even more aftermarket F-150 goodness in the coming days).

Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?
