It is with great reluctance that I must sell my beloved 2005 Mustang GT. I purchased this vehicle almost 5 years ago, after seeing the Performance White paint pop with those Guardsman Blue PAINTED ON stripes looking back at me. It simply reminded me of the first Mustang that I had which I sold when I joined the Army a VERY  long time ago. Needless to say, I have tried to take care of it as best I can. The reason I am selling it is because I am the proud owner of a titanium rod and three titanium discs in the cervical portion of my neck, C3-C7 to be exact thanks to a drunk/drugged driver. If anyone knows Mustangs they know that they are just naturally low to the ground. This along with the low roof line makes it very uncomfortable for me to enter and exit the car with MY new hardware.

As I said earlier I have tried to take care of her as best as I can. There are a few chips in the paint on the hood in the stripes as you can see in the picture and one on the right rear quarter. There are two dings that have been on the vehicle since I have owned it, one on the passenger side door, the other just above the drivers side door. The interior is simply awesome as you can see in the pictures. I added a few interior items like the chrome shifter, GT logo lighter plug, GT logo chrome transmission shifter plate, horse and bar carpets, not to mention the radio, an AlPINE CDE124sxm. In regards to the radio, the winning bidder will also have included with the sale the remainder of the XM subscription which expires in September 2013 at no cost to them. Other than that there is absolutely no interior modifications.
In regards to the drivetrain, the only modifications I made are the following: BBK Twin 62mm Throttle Body, BBK Cold Air Intake, Engine Plenum Cover, Fuel Rail Covers, MMD Bolt On Hood Struts, Bassani Axle Back Exhaust, 14"Short Antenna. That's it.These are all bolt on items too. You may notice the rear lights, third brake light, and rear quarter side markers are tinted. These are done utilizing Night Shade tinting. This is not a decal and can not be removed. Basically it's painted on but still visible. In regards to the rear lights I have also installed Raxiom Sequential Turn Signals as well. The good thing about the stuff I added on is that I still have all of the factory original equipment that was removed.Basically if you do not like what is on there you can remove it and go back to stock. Like I said everything is bolt on. No mechanics needed.
This car is truly a pleasure to drive. Basically nothing beats the sound of an American V8. And this car definitely personifies that belief. That, along with it's sharp looks makes this an eye turner where ever you may go. If you don't like having people compliment you on your car and striking up conversations when they see this car, then this car is not for you. Ford really hit the mark when they redesigned the Mustang in 2005.
In regards to the mileage this was for the past 5 years merely a weekend car for my family and I to enjoy. Yes I said my family and I. This is an adult owned, maintained, and driven car. I have only started driving it more and more again recently because I sold my other car, which I had the same problem with getting in and out of, faster than I had expected. Fluids have been changed every 3,000 miles. The radiator was flushed just last year. Brakes have been done. Tires have maybe, 10,000 miles on them. I really hate to see this car leave but hopefully she will bring as much of a smile to someone else's face as she has to mine every time I sat behind the wheel. My reserve is set below Blue Book value and definitely fair in that respect. Good Luck Bidding.

Chris Harris pits Fiesta ST against Mercedes G63 AMG in 0-60 battle... sort of

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

Vehicle performance tests are serious business, with reputations made or broken by things like braking distance, top speed, and lateral g-forces. King of the metrics, though, is the 0-60 run, which for unknown reasons has become the benchmark for what truly makes a car a performance machine.
Now, Chris Harris from Drive has turned the whole idea behind the sprint to 60 on its ear. Taking a new Ford Fiesta ST, Harris asks a simple question: would the ST be quicker to 60 on its own, or on a trailer being towed by a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG?
It's a fair question, really. The Fiesta Harris tested hit 60 in 7.2 seconds on a slightly uphill section of runway. It should be noted that Harris quotes his ST at 182 horsepower, which is about 15 ponies less than what we're getting in the US, so these numbers might not hold up all that well against an American model. The G63 AMG, meanwhile, is a 536-horsepower monster, powered by a twin-turbo V8 that, able to propel the big SUV to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds without towing a Fiesta.

Ford worker files for UAW dues refund, stirs right-to-work debate

Sun, 24 Aug 2014

Let's start with some history: Ford's Dearborn truck plant, part of the company's massive River Rouge complex, was the center of a strike in 1941 that led to Ford signing the first "closed shop" agreement in the industry. The agreement obliged every worker at the plant to be a dues-paying member of the United Auto Workers. In December 2012, however, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation making Michigan a right-to-work state, which outlawed closed shops. The new law gave workers the right to opt out of union membership and stop paying dues even if they were still covered by union activities like collective bargaining. For employees at the Dearborn plant, the right-to-work clauses take effect at the end of their current contract in 2015.
As a tool-and-die maker at Ford's Dearborn plant for 16 years, Todd Lemire pays dues to the UAW - about two hours' salary per month. However, he's been unhappy with the UAW's support of the Democratic party, and not wanting to wait until next year to be out of the UAW entirely he invoked his Beck Rights, which state that a non-member of a union does not have to pay dues to support non-core activities, such as political spending. But Lemire wasn't happy that Ford still subtracted the total amount of dues, with the UAW reimbursing the difference, so he filed suit with the National Labor Relations Board, feeling that the workaround violates his rights.
Lemire's case is just a week old, so it could be a while before a resolution. Yet, as September 15, 2015 draws near and the right-to-work laws take full effect for Michigan workers - and others wonder whether it could help revitalize the state's manufacturing base - a case like this adds more fuel to the discussion.

Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.
