2 owner car, 11506 miles. Stored every winter, never out in rain or snow. Never smoked in. Interior very clean, only minor plastic scratches here and there (see pics). Aluminum package and my color dash lighted instruments. This car is not without flaws, about a year ago the convertible top passenger frame was bent, as was common on this vehicle year (check Ford forums). It has been welded and reinforced, it is now functioning and does go down level and without issue. Going into the up position via the power button, when top is almost closed, a light manual assist (use one hand to lift about 2 inches) is needed to bring the passenger side post into to a straight position. (see pics). Other than that there is a small scratch on the bumper near the trunk and a 2mm size ding in the passenger door (again reference pics). Everything else is working great, NO MECHANICAL ISSUES, new battery last year from Ford and added Hurst quick shifter. Also has K & N cold air. and front lower spoiler and hood scoop. This is a beautiful car, very fast and sounds awesome with a deep exhaust rumble. The underside is very clean and brake calipers are like new from storage. NO RESERVE AUCTION! I have the original shifter and the air filter as well as the convertible top boot (parade cover) for this car. Located in Iowa. Roughly 4 hrs from Chicago, Minneapolis, St Louis. Feel free to call me with any questions or to view the vehicle at 319-432-3003. I would be happy to provide any additional information or pics Also Both sets of keys and remotes are there. Please note the accident report shows an insurance claim the 1st owner told me someone backed into the car in a parking lot when the car was parked. He said it was less than $800 to fix. I can not see where that happened on the car. And he did not tell me or I did not ask? This is a good solid car! I just do not drive it. I only put about a thousand miles a year on it! This is why I am selling it. Thank you and good luck! I am unable to trade and will not end auction early. Also this is my lowest price. I can trade it to a dealer for what I started at. Thanks for your interest!

Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod

Tue, 21 Oct 2014

Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.

Ford reports 58% drop in Q2 profits on European losses

Wed, 25 Jul 2012

Ford Motor Company announced Wednesday that it has posted a $1 billion profit for the second quarter of 2012. That sounds like good news for the Blue Oval, until you take into account that Ford posted a $2.4 billion profit for Q2 a year ago. That is a substantial 58 percent loss.
Ford also posted $465 million in international losses, with $404 million of those losses coming directly from Europe. The automaker also increased its European loss projections to $1 billion for 2012, due in large part to the economic crisis overseas, which has resulted in increased unemployment and decreased consumer confidence.

Ford F-150 bumps Camry from top of Cars.com American Made Index

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

With July 4th just around the corner, what better time could there be for Cars.com to announce that the Ford F-150 is the Most American car of 2013? This may be especially true since it was the Toyota Camry, a car produced by a company based in Japan, that had held the top spot from 2009 to 2012.
Cars.com compiles its Most American list by considering the amount of parts each vehicle uses that come from America, where it's final assembly takes place and how many units per year are sold. "While the assembly point and domestic parts content of the F-150 didn't change from 2012-2013, vehicle sales are responsible for bumping the F-150 to the top spot," according to Patrick Olsen, Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com.
As far as automakers go (as opposed to individual models), Toyota retains the top spot it held in 2012, with General Motors, Chrysler, Ford and Honda (in that order) rounding out the list. The motivation behind this list each year, according to Olsen, is "to help car shoppers understand that 'American-Made' extends beyond just the Detroit three" and because "a study we conducted in 2012 indicated that 25 percent of shoppers surveyed preferred to buy American."
