Hi all.

I'm selling a 1998 Saleen S-281 Speedster that I recently purchased. It's the Speedster edition, perfect for the summer.

I'm the third owner and the car was originally purchased from Galpin Ford in Los Angeles. This is a real Saleen, number 114 for 1998. The color is a dark red and the interior is black.

Exterior is 8 out of 10 (would be a 10, but the front fascia and bumper have some scrapes and scratches and one of the rims has a scratch as well).

Interior is 9 out of 10 (no rips in seats, hasn't been under the sun).

10 out of 10 mechanically. Drives perfect.

This car is naturally aspirated, has a 4.6L V-8 that runs perfectly, mated to a 5-speed manual. The clutch is tight, much like the rest of the car.

The car has roughly 33,000 original miles (I can send you a Carfax report upon request) and feels like it's brand new. The tires are fresh and the brakes are perfect (original brake pads).

The car needs nothing and is ready to go. It does have some cosmetic issues (including a scraped front fascia), but I decided not to fix them before selling because the new owner should fix it as he/she feels appropriate.

All fluids are good and the car is perfect mechanically.

The car comes with a hard tonneau cover, a plastic/vinyl tonneau cover (more of a cover for the rear seats) as well as a car cover. I will also do an oil change for the new owner (using Mobil 1 synthetic oil and filter).

Call Alex with any questions or to schedule a viewing - 818-458-9255.

You can also e-mail at sashahartounian@gmail.com

Car is located in Los Angeles and is for sale locally.

*** This is my fourth Saleen Mustang (I've owned a 1999 S-281, a 2000 S-281 and a 2007 S-281). I sold the '99 on ebay a few years ago and still keep in touch with the owner. All cars were perfect, but this '98 is probably the best out of the bunch.

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.

Ford considering return to Le Mans with new EcoBoost LMP2

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

If you want to see a Ford racing prototype, you need look no further than the United SportsCar Championship, where the Blue Oval fields two Daytona Prototypes powered by an EcoBoost-branded 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. But according to the latest rumors, that may not be enough for Ford, which has as much brand to promote overseas as it does back home.
That could be why Racer magazine is reporting that Ford may be poised to return to Le Mans in the coming years. As we all know, Ford competed at Le Mans in the mid-through-late '60s, bringing home four consecutive overall wins with the legendary GT40. The new program would not, according to Racer, seek to relive those glory days, but would instead compete for class wins in the LMP2 category.
Currently, LMP2 regulations are somewhat split between the United SportsCar Championship in North America on the one hand and ACO-sanctioned series like the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship on the other, but plans are underway for the regulations to be unified in time for the 2017 season. That could be when Ford is targeting its return, allowing it to compete on both sides of the Atlantic to maximize its exposure.

Toyota hangs on to title of world's largest automaker for first half of 2013

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

General Motors and Ford can have all the success they please, but it doesn't seem like America's two largest manufacturers are going to topple Toyota in the first half of 2013. According to Reuters, Toyota moved 4.91 million vehicles in the first six months of 2013, representing a 1.1-percent drop from the same period in 2012.
GM is on the rise, though, with a four-percent increase in global sales, to 4.85 million. Volkswagen, still sitting in third, saw a 5.5-percent jump to 4.7 million vehicles in the first half of 2013.
If this pace continues for Toyota, it'll finish 2013 in the top sales spot for the second year in a row. The manufacturer fell to third, behind GM and VW, in 2011 after earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged its production capacity.
