This iconic hot rod was built approximately 10 years ago in California by people who really knew what they were doing, Ron Attebury Street Rods. The construction and attention to detail is nothing short of amazing. Starting with a 32 Ford frame correctly modified to fit the original steel T roadster body the front suspension is the first thing to bring about a "wow" from spectators. It consists of a tube axle mounted suicide style using unequal length 4-bars to match the reveal in the 32 frame. From there we have torsion bars similar to that in a midget that are enclosed in the frame, are adjustable for height and use equally adjustable friction shocks with cross steering. Rear suspension is a Ford 9" mounted on coil-overs and located by a triangulated 4-bar also. Powering this beauty is a gorgeous to look at 401 Buick nailhead with an ample supply of glitter and backed up by a 60s 400 Turbo with the Buick switch pitch converter. The engine and transmission were both built by a very professional shop, Centerville Auto Repair owned and operated by Russ Martin, the Buick Guru in Grass Valley,California in 2007 and now have 6900 miles. Both engine and transmission were built to stock specs so the package is easy to live with and trouble free. Receipts for this total in excess of $6k and indicate a rebore of .060 using block plates and a complete balanced assembly along with everything else used in the assembly. Brakes are 4WDB using C4 Corvette calipers. Headers and exhaust are a work of art in themselves as is the narrowed 40 Ford dashboard. Fuel and volt guages along with the headlight switch, electric trunk switch are hidden in the glove compartment. Wiring is excellent as is the upholstery with toggle switches for the switch pitch converter, fuel pump, ignition cut-off and dimmer along with the button for speedo calibration are under the dash within easy reach of the driver. Also under the dash along with the fuse box is a flip down enclosed panel containing the ignition coil, speedometer module, shift position light module and two 12 volt outlets. Battery(Optima) shut off is on the floor in front of the seat. There are also easily accessible battery charging posts inside the driver side frame rail and on the opposite frame rail are found the electric fuel pump, fuel shut-off valve and canister fuel filter. Steering column is a nicely done tilt unit but even so as the passenger compartment on a T is small this car is best suited for smaller individuals. The trunk is fully finished enclosing the battery and fuel fill. Wheels are excellent repro wires all with good tires the rear being 16.5" wide Hoosier street radials. This car starts, runs, drives and stops very well and needs nothing. NY title/registration is clear and in my name. No test pilots but rides freely given dependent on weather. The T is advertised locally so may be sold and removed from the auction at any time. Once the reserve is met the auction will play out and a local sale will not occur. Look at the multitude of photos in the listing and most questions will be answered but if not I will do my best to provide the answer you need.

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
2014 Ford Mustang GT
Fri, 17 May 2013I was more than a year removed from my last experience with the Mustang GT and its delicious 5.0 V8 when this new 2014 example rolled up to my driveway recently. Good weather and a planned road trip across the state meant that I would get plenty of seat time in this conservatively specified example, too. In total, I logged about 400 miles in a week of driving - not a lot for some of you super commuters out there, but quite a lot for this work-from-home journalist.
The basic formula of the 5.0 has stayed the same for 2014. The 2013 model year saw a number of updates to keep the Mustang fresh until it's replaced with an all-new generation for 2015. So, for its bon voyage tour, the fifth-generation Pony Car has seen only a few modifications: a couple of new paint colors (Oxford White and Ruby Read Metallic), trim and wheel revisions and, sadly, the deletion of the Boss 302 from the Ford lineup. However, while the limited-edition Boss is likely to reappear sometime after the gen-six Mustang makes its debut in 2015, the GT Track Package cars like the one I tested provide at least a partial solution for those looking for hot laps.

Ford tells Congress it collects and protects some driver data
Fri, 14 Feb 2014Last month Ford's Jim Farley made waves at the CES when it was reported he told show attendees, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone." Farley and Ford later partially retracted and clarified that statement.
Spurred by a desire for further transparency on data collection policies, Ford representatives answered questions from Congress, specifically Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.), about driver privacy.
The Detroit News reports that Ford told Congress it does collect some vehicle location data in an effort to "troubleshoot and improve our products" on behalf of the driver. Ford went on to say that it only collects limited data after receiving permission from owners.
