1919 Model T Ford Delivery Truck/ Depot Hack on 2040-cars

Ah, for the days when motoring was a gentleman's pursuit.......out of the past comes this amazing 1919 Model T Ford ready to journey into the past! A great daily driver and an excellent example of automotive history!

I've seen many variants of this body style and if you're a Model T  enthusiast you'll know that anything beyond the five body styles created at the Ford plant were all custom work. I've seen many examples of this body style called a Depot Hack and/or a Delivery Truck, so it can be considered both if you like. The rear seat can easily be taken off of the very strong brackets that hold it in place and the car can then be used for either passenger transport or for hauling cargo.  Either way it's a splendid classic that is functional as well as original.

As with most Model T Ford's that have been well maintained, this one is no exception. The previous owner had it for about 30 years and the last known restoration took place in the early seventies. The engine runs very strong and the tranny shifts smooth from the low gear into high. The top speed seems to be about 35 to 40 MPH and the steering is pretty responsive for a car that is nearly 100 years old. The choke works just fine, although the car seems to resist starting in the very cold. I fired it up yesterday, the temperature was about 50 degrees and the engine turned over in less than 60 seconds. The reverse gear works fine as do the brakes.  Although the emergency brake seems to be all right, I would put wooden chocks next to wheels on an incline.

The ignition works fine and the coils are in great shape and buzz properly when firing it up. No radiator issues and it's never overheated once on me, although I do tend to not drive it very hard at all. The front crank works fine, too.

The body is in terrific shape, but I think it could use a new paint job if you intend to show it. As a daily driver it serves quite well with it's beautiful patina. No warpage in any of the wood or rust in any of the metal, either!

The tires hold air just fine and the wooden spokes are strong and true. Comes with a spare on the drivers side as pictured.

The upholstery on both bench seats is in great shape and very supple. Ditto on the roof and side flaps. As you can see in the pictures, the side and rear flaps are secured by clips running down the sides and the bottom, so the wind won't get under them at all.

While the car is being stored, I usually disconnect the battery and shut the stopcock on the bottom of the gas tank off and that's worked out very well when I fire it back up again. No issues at all. The gas tank is accessible under the front bench seat and the battery is accessible under the rear floorboards.

This classic T would make a great delivery truck, parade vehicle or simply a weekend cruiser for the able and willing fan of these Ford masterpieces!

If you want a great, unaltered original Model T Ford that's ready to drive, then this is definitely the classic for you!

Ford Focus Electric and ST recalled over lighting issue

Mon, 12 Aug 2013

Ford is recalling 6,308 units of the 2012 and 2013 Focus Electric and 2013 Focus ST that were fitted with HID headlights because a "wiring incompatibility" could keep the front side marker lights from working. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall should begin in the middle of this month, after which owners can take their cars to dealers to have the wiring assembly repaired free of charge.
You can find more information in the NHTSA bulletin posted below.

Ford recalls select Explorer, E-Series vans

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Just a few days ago we brought you news that Ford had issued a recall on 28,000 units of the Edge crossover for problems related to the fuel line. But now the Blue Oval has issued recall notices on two more of its larger vehicles.
The first relates to the Explorer, 395 examples of which from the 2011 and 2012 model years were found to have problems with their steering systems if they underwent service after September 1, 2013. An apparent software glitch could lock the steering gear, preventing the driver from steering the vehicle and thereby increasing the risk of a crash. As a result, Ford dealers are being instructed to check their records to identify the problematic vehicles and bring them in to have the steering gear replaced. Details of the recall can be found in the PDF linked here.
The second problem revolves around E-Series vans that may develop bubbles in their windshields under hot temperatures. The decrease in visibility through the problematic windshield could - you guessed it - "increase the risk of a crash." As a result, Ford is calling in 4,532 units of the E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 vans built in the relatively short window between May 12 and May 26, 2011. Details of this recall can be found in the notice below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Ford dissects the heart of the 2015 Mustang, its engine range

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

Happy Mustang Day. Are you tired of hearing about the 2015 Ford Mustang yet? No? Good, here's a bunch of mechanical data on Ford's sixth-gen muscle car, along with cutaways of the GT's 5.0-liter V8 and the new 2.3-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder shown above. We also have a smattering of info on the Stang's updated transmissions and an exploded-parts-diagram view of its all-new independent rear suspension.
Ford is set to make waves offering the Mustang with a turbo for the firs time since the small-volume SVO of the 1980s. Displacing 2.3 liters, the engine's twin-scroll turbo should help the four-cylinder turn out a projected 305 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, while also returning the best fuel economy in the Mustang's engine lineup. As we said in our Deep Dive, the EcoBoost will be slotted in as a premium engine, above the 3.7-liter V6 but below the 5.0-liter V8.
Speaking of that high-revving eight-cylinder, it's receiving a new cylinder head with high-flow ports. The intake and exhaust valves are larger and the cams have been replaced, among other tweaks. It should rev even higher thanks to a rebalanced crankshaft and forged connecting rods. Ford is still claiming a projected 420 hp and 390 lb-ft, although as many of the changes for the 2015's V8 come from the 2013 Boss 302, we're going to assume there's some sandbagging at work.
