This auction is for a 1930 Ford Model A Deluxe Rumble Seat Coupe. Just out of lengthy storage from Florida. The prior owner is an 83 year old gentleman who was always planning on restoring the car but health issues has set him back. The car was the year of his birth and 30 years ago he purchased it and was enjoying the car. Later on the car went into the garage and was taken completely apart to do a full restoration. He is not able to continue so we aquired the vehicle and all the parts. We lightly bolted the car back together for easy transportation. I will try to give you an accurate description of what was done so far and what needs to be finished. The complete drive train was rebuilt. He painted the frame and all related parts and installed the drive line back in. A lot of new suspension parts were installed. New shocks, brakes, etc. Has 4 brand new Denman wide white wall tires with new tubes and 5 stock wire wheels pit free and 4 new hub caps. Nice solid straight body all steel. He installed new sills and a set of rear inner tubs. They need to be welded and smoothed up where they match up to the old inner wheel house. The back quarters down by the aprons need a patch panel welded in. The panels are included. There are a few other small rust areas that need attention (lower left hand rear fender, bottom of both front fenders and a couple of spots on the tail of both quarters). Very minor repair but to be expected for an 83 year old car. Here is a list of items we are including. New rechromed front and rear bumpers complete with brackets, supports and hardware. The front bench seat and the rumble seat are newly upholstered in a nice tan cloth and are wrapped in plastic bags. New headliner material, new insert material for the roof, both front kick panels, no door panels, new fender welting, wire harness, rubber seals for the glass, Ford sill plates, all hood latches, brake rods, steering column and box, exhaust system and wood blocks for body to the frame. New sheet metal includes, new under seat panel for tools, new tail pan under deck lid, new lower rear pan under deck lid, new floor pan riser for rumble seat area, new rear patch panels for lower quarters and 2 new front fender extensions that bolt to the aprons. All glass is intact but drivers door window is cracked. Also have new rear spare tire mount and misc. mechanical parts new in the bags. I have the carb and coil and a few other misc. motor parts used. I didnt see a distributor cap or wires in the boxes so there may be a few items that you will still have to purchase. Overall it is 98% complete. If you are looking for a nice Model A Coupe to restore original or a good basis for a hotrod project this is it. Car rolls easy for loading. Car is listed locally so we reserve the right to end the auction early. If car meets the reserve we will let the auction run to the end to be fair to all bidders and potential bidders. Please be serious in placing a bid. Ask all questions before auctions end. We take our auctions serious and want you to do the same. We have a clear Florida title and proper dealer transfer paperwork. Car was titled as a 1929 but is a 1930. VIN on the title is the same as the car. If this presents a problem I will register the car and you will recieve a Maine registration and transfer form from us. Deposit of $500 within 24 hours of auctions end. Full payment 3 days after auctions end. If you need more info or pics feel free to call or emai us at 207-324-5568 days or 207-432-2862 eves and sundays

180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains

Wed, 21 May 2014

If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.

A closer look at the 2015 Ford F-150

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Despite having to share Ford's Detroit Auto Show stand with the hot new 2015 Mustang, the brand-new F-150 was arguably an even more important debut. Why? Ford moved some 700,000 examples of its F-Series truck in 2012, making it not only the best-selling pickup truck, but the top-selling vehicle in the US, by a long-shot.
The 2015 F-150 raises the bar for pickup trucks in a big way, with big-time use of aluminum. Because of this, roughly 700 pounds have been removed from the truck's overall weight, making it even more efficient than before, while still offering all of the capability that pickup owners expect. And with a host of engines under the hood, including a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, the 2015 F-150 will surely offer something for everyone.
During the Detroit Auto Show, west coast editor Michael Harley took a closer look at the new F-150, talking to some of the truck's engineers. Have a look at the full video, below.

Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
