I am listing this 1929 Ford Model A Coupe Street Rod for a friend who does not have computer access.  All questions should be directed to him.  Up for bids is 1929 Ford Coupe Street Rod.  It was originally built in the mid 1990's and redone in 1999-2000 by the present owner.  It is powered by a 400 cubic inch small block Chevrolet engine with large valve heads (2.02 intakes).  It has a 4 barrell carb, headers and an electronic ignition.  It is backed by a 400 Turbohydramatic transmission and a 10 inch Chevrolet rear, ratio unknown.  The original Model A frame has been fully boxed, mounts a 4 inch drop front axle with power disc brakes.  The rear axle is suspended by coil springs and has drum brakes.  The body is original Ford steel, while all four fenders are fiberglass.  It has been painted in Basecoat/Clearcoat.  The paint is still very nice.  The interior is upholstered in matching cloth, with a tilt steering column and an AM/FM cassette radio.  It is equipped with Classic Instruments.   All the glass is new, tinted and is excellent except for a hairline crack in the driver's side door window.  A fuel cell is mounted in the trunk as is the battery.  The Ford runs and drives very well.  There are no known problems.  The seller has owned this car for 15 years.  He has a clear Maryland title in his name.  True mileage is unknown.

BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod

Thu, 20 Jun 2013

Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.

Ford Fusion production scaled back just 3 months after it was accelerated

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

Three months after kicking off production of the Ford Fusion at its Flat Rock, MI factory, Ford Motor Company is taking steps to trim output in the face of heavily discounted competition from Toyota and a growing supply of vehicles.
The addition of Fusion production in Flat Rock - which also builds the Mustang - was meant to be what pushed the handsome mid-sizer past its arch-nemesis, the Toyota Camry. An extra facility building Fusions was also meant to curb the growing demand for Ford's highly profitable sedan.
But with word that Flat Rock would take "approximately" one extra week off for the holidays combined with an 88-day supply of Fusions - reportedly due in no small part to what Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas called "aggressive discounting of the Camry" - some analysts are now beginning to wonder if Ford may have overextended itself by adding a second Fusion facility to the mix.

Ring Brothers shows 1965-66 Mustang fastback carbon fiber body

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

We covered one of Ring Brothers' more extreme SEMA builds yesterday, the De Tomaso Pantera-based ADRNLN, but if that well-executed but over-the-top Italian-American exotic is too much for you, then perhaps this Ring Brothers 1965 Ford Mustang fastback with a carbon-fiber body suits your tastes better.
What the performance-parts manufacturer is showcasing with the Mustang is the carbon-fiber body itself, which is fashioned around the 1965-66 fastback. It can be bought from the company and bonded to the skin and unibody as a do-it-yourself project, or you can take your Mustang to Ring Brothers and have the body installed there. The fenders, doors and quarter panels are two-inches wider than stock, and Ring Brothers offers a custom widebody chassis to those who want the complete package.
The show car looks sharp in person lowered on HRE wheels, and we appreciate the bare front end so we can see the supercharged V8 and front coilover suspension, though the details on those performance upgrades are slim. Also note the custom independent rear suspension setup at the rear.
