1961 Ford Galaxie convertible Owned for almost 20 years. It was restored in the 1990’s. Original 390 car, pale yellow with black interior. P/S P/B vacuum wipers. Factory tinted windows, Flouted mirror, Previous owner did interior in blue and black. Car is very straight so I had it painted black. I bought car in 1993 with 84,000 mi. Had been non opd for 10 years. Engine rebuilt 10yrs ago with about 5000 miles since then. It has higher lift crane cam, factory cast iron shorty headers, aluminum intake, dual feed Holley 600(not double pumper), electronic ignition, hidden kill switch, padded dash, accel coil, ram air, dual master cylinder, dual exhaust, aluminum radiator, electric fan, Weld draglite wheels. It gets about 15mpg freeway. It has year of manufacture California license plates. Original cruiseomatic trans. It does run and drive well. Wife and I take it out most weekends. It was painted in 1995 and 2005. I made a custom tonneu cover with speakers in headrests. Some items that could use some attention are: Top goes up and down slow. Top doesn’t leak but looks old, rear window is faded, Needs beltline weather-stripping, electric window motors were put in front windows years ago and switches were not mounted. Front door panels warped, A/C not hooked up, radio not hooked up. Contact with questions or for additional pics. |

Ford using robot drivers to test durability [w/video]
Sun, 16 Jun 2013In testing the durability of its upcoming fullsize Transit vans, Ford has begun using autonomous robotic technology to pilot vehicles through the punishing courses of its Michigan Proving Grounds test facility. The autonomous tech allows Ford to run more durability tests in a single day than it could with human drivers, as well as create even more challenging tests that wouldn't be safe to run with a human behind the wheel.
The technology being used was developed by Utah-based Autonomous Solutions, and isn't quite like the totally autonomous vehicles being developed by companies like Google and Audi for use out in the real world. Rather, Ford's autonomous test vehicles follow a pre-programmed course and their position is tracked via GPS and cameras that are being monitored from a central control room. Though the route is predetermined, the robotic control module operates the steering, acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle on course as it drives over broken concrete, cobblestones, metal grates, rough gravel, mud pits and oversize speed bumps.
Scroll down to watch the robotic drivers in action, though be warned that you're headed for disappointment if you expect to see a Centurion behind the wheel (nerd alert!). The setup looks more like a Mythbusters experiment than a scene from Battlestar Galactica.
NHTSA closes Ford F-150 EcoBoost acceleration probe
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Typically when we report on the findings of an investigation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it's because the government body has discovered a safety issue and prescribed a recall. In this case, however, NHTSA has closed an investigation into a reported performance deficit without ever getting to the recall stage.
The issue revolves around the Ford F-150 - specifically those equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine - of which some 360,000 were built in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 model years. After receiving an initial 95 complaints, NHTSA opened an investigation last May - almost a year ago - into the reported issue of reduced engine power under hard acceleration. The agency has since received a total of 525 such complaints, and Ford itself reported receiving over 4,000.
Together, NHTSA and Ford determined that the problem resulted from cylinders misfiring, an issue itself stemming from water getting into the charge air cooler (CAC) mated to the turbochargers. In particularly humid or rainy conditions, water was found to get into the CAC, causing some of the cylinders to misfire, which in turn triggered the ECU to disable those cylinders in order to protect the catalytic converter from damage.
