1958 Ford Convertible on 2040-cars
Leeds, Alabama, United States
1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible, Colonial white and sun gold, originally 352/300 hp., automatic, THIS IS A PROJECT CAR!!!!. Super solid - trunk, floors, inner & outer rockers, inner & outer quarters, frame, NO RUST, Just surface rust. It was stored in a wharehouse in Atlanta, Ga., For over 25 years, the only rust I have found is bottom of drivers door in the shell part about the size of a quarter, a spot same size on left side by the sill plate, a small spot on bottom of trunk lid,. All very easy to repair, The car has a 272 Y block w/ 3 spd overdrive sitting in it,. I bought a completely rebuilt 361 edsel motor (same engine as the 352), no money spared, NEW---pistons, water pump, fuel pump, starter, generator, torque converter, Transmission all completely built (correct automatic). have the correct manifolds, over $4000.00 spent on engine & trans., The top is there but seems a few broken parts that would have be welded. Missing - that I can see are the rear quarter glass, (both), back bottom seat frame, one door glass, windshield, drive shaft, may be more but that's the parts I have noticed missing. Probably the most solid unrestored 58 ford out there. Has small dents, scratches etc. Alabama will not issue a title on any vehicle pre -- 1975, but will provide every thing your state requires for them to issue you a title.. basically a tag receipt and notarize bill of sale,.NEEDS TOTAL RESTORATION.. any questions call - 205-253-7629 |

Ford supports bid for Detroit Rallycross race with Motown-minded Fiesta ST vid
Mon, 01 Jul 2013As Ford continues its cheerleading effort to help bring the 2014 Summer X Games to its hometown of Detroit, MI, it has released footage of its 2014 Fiesta ST Rallycross car on location at some of the city's well-known landmarks. This video appears to have been shot around the same time as the previous X Games Detroit video was made, but it focuses 100-percent on rally car action.
With Ford Racing driver Andreas Eriksson behind the wheel, this Fiesta ST lays down some serious rubber atop Detroit's Cobo Hall parking structure, at Belle Isle and around the Michigan Central Depot. Detroit isn't alone in the bid for a three-year X Games contract as Chicago, Austin and Charlotte are also hoping to play host. The winning host city is expected to be announced this summer. Scroll down for Ford's two-minute video showing the Fiesta ST Rallycrossing through the Motor City.
US Air Force Thunderbirds Mustang fetches $400K at auction
Wed, 07 Aug 2013For the last six years, Ford has created a special version of the Mustang with a military aviation theme, and then donated the car to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) to be auctioned off at the annual AirVenture event, also known as The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration. The money raised goes to the EAA Young Eagles program to inspire the "aviation pioneers of tomorrow," and this year's 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition was won with a final bid of $398,000.
Celebrating 60 years of the USAF's Thunderbirds, this Mustang GT is the only one of its kind with a paint job matching the Thunderbirds' F-16 Falcon jets and some Ford Racing performance added on for good measure. Including this car, Ford has helped raise around $2.3 million for the charity with the biggest auction price coming from the first year of the program, the F-22 Raptor-inspired Mustang AV8R from 2008, which sold for $500,000.
Is Tesla's next project an F-150 competitor? [w/poll]
Wed, 13 Nov 2013What's the future look like for Tesla after it launches the Model X CUV and possibly a smaller, sub-Model S sedan? Would you believe a pickup truck? Yes, Tesla could be looking to use its EV know-how to take the fight to Ford and the F-150, based on comments made by company founder Elon Musk.
"If you're trying to replace the most gasoline miles driven, you have to look at what people are buying," Musk said during an impromptu Q&A session following a speech at Business Insider's Ignition conference. "[The F-150 is] the best selling car in America. If people are voting that's their car, then that's the car we have to deliver."
And while the idea of electric pickup may sound kind of absurd to some, Musk makes a very valid point - if Tesla's goal is to replace gas miles with electrical miles, it simply can't afford to ignore pickups.
