The Big D is for Sale as my son likes to call him. I bought the truck when I still had my prius lease as a second car, The lease ran out, I had the truck, I love the truck, but now as a single mother, I cannot have 2 vehicles. So the Big D needs to make space for something more practical for me. I travel to NYC and back allot and the parking garages will not park the Truck...

The truck is great, and in great shape, gets compliments at the dealers when I go in for oil changes, low to no rust, runs perfect, properly maintained and loved, a small scratch in the paint, but otherwise perfect, I never had to bring it in for any trouble. The truck has a bench seat which is nice so my son can sleep coming home from dinners, but it also can be a console, with 2 cup holders . Everything works perfect, CD player, AC. A real faithful truck. My loss your gain, I am not a car dealer or expert, please get the truck inspected or come and have a look at it.  ( the Rottweiler photo bombing the picture is only protective on command! ) Please email me with questions , and I will do my best to answer them. If you would like additional pictures of specifics please let me know.

If you need a loan, make sure you are approved before bidding.
A $500 deposit is required within 48 hours, and full payment within 7 days of auction closing

I can help make arrangments if the truck needs to be shipped

NHTSA opens investigation into Ford Explorer PI brakes

Wed, 27 Aug 2014 18:59:00 EST

This year more than most, it's pleasant when we can string together a few days without word of an automaker or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announcing a bunch of new recalls. It's seemingly been a little quiet on this front lately (barring a spider-related Suzuki issue revealed early today), but now we have word of the government safety agency opening a Preliminary Evaluation into the 2013 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, a probe that could potentially affect an estimated 20,000 vehicles.
The issue being investigated concerns failures of the front brake hose on the vehicle that show "small splits in the hoses near the body side ferrule of the hose assembly," according to the agency, and the issue could result in longer stopping distances. The feds have reports of 13 malfunctions affecting 11 Explorer units. However, it's important to note that all of the incidents come from a single, unnamed metropolitan police fleet that operates 46 of them. According to The Detroit News, the failures generally took place between December and July.
NHTSA is investigating further to find if this is a more widespread issue than just this one fleet. Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker confirmed to us, "We are cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do." Scroll down to read the agency's report.

Ford EcoBoost smashes records at Daytona

Thu, 10 Oct 2013 11:30:00 EST

Some mighty machines have lapped the banks of the Daytona International Speedway over the years: thunderous V8-powered stock cars, Le Mans-conquering Group C prototypes, open-wheel Champ Cars, knee-dragging superbikes... heck, the infield lake has even hosted powerboat racing. But this - this is the fastest car ever to lap the legendary raceway.
What you're looking at is the new Daytona Prototype being prepared by Riley Technologies for the new United SportsCar Championship. The car, released just last week, is powered by a new 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 from Ford's EcoBoost family, and just obliterated the top speed at the track with a blistering 222.971 miles per hour through the traps.
That's enough to annihilate the previous record that was set, also under Ford power, by Bill Elliott while placing his Thunderbird on pole for the 1987 Daytona 500 that he would go on to win. His 210.364 mph record had stood for 26 years until now.

Ford will build Hackmobile out of Transit Connect Wagon

Fri, 27 Dec 2013 14:59:00 EST

What you see in the above image is a rendering of the Hackmobile Transit Connect Wagon. What is that? It's a "mobile fabrication and hacking unit" that includes tools for metal- and woodworking, 3D and electronics fabrication, a three-axis CNC machine called "The Fabber," a video projector and screen, an air compressor, an 84x48-inch work surface that folds out like a Murphy bed and oh so much more. When not in use, all of the implements fold neatly into the back of Ford's award-winning van.
But perhaps the more important question is why is that? Because Make Magazine held an Ultimate Maker Vehicle Challenge in conjunction with Ford in which ten teams created were charged with creating "the ultimate Ford Transit Connect Wagon for the do-it-yourself enthusiast." Team Twin Cities Maker won the competition with the Hackmobile, and in addition to winning $10,000, Ford has declared it's actually going to build the thing - which is great, because if they can actually engineer a road-legal Hackmobile Transit Connect Wagon as envisioned, the inevitable A-Team movie reboot might need to think about including it.
Check out the video below for a cheeky walk-through of the Hackmobile, and get all the particulars in the press release below that.
