True survivor truck. It is incredibly rare being that it is a supercab that has a short bed (most were longbeds), 460 with a 4 barrel (very few 1/2 tons came with it), an automatic, Air Conditioning and dual fuel tanks along with being a Lariat package meaning it has all the fancy and sought after trim. You would have to search for quite some time to find another one with all these features and that is rust free, accident free and in running, driving condition. This truck really needs somebody to take the time to restore it.

Below are the in depth details of everything I know and would want to know if I was buying a vehicle from somebody over the internet.

The odometer reads 91,573 miles and I believe it to be original.
Passed California SMOG and is currently has registration until 06/30/2014

Exterior/Interior are almost completely original and intact.

It has original paint that is badly faded.

Original keys, one for the doors, and another to lock/unlock the hood and start the engine.

Has the Side pop out windows and both of them work good.

Has the rear bench seat option which folds down and makes a flat bed surface. Most supercabs had small little jump seats that came out of each side and passengers had to ride sideways.

Previous owner was a grandpa handy man type that just used it to haul supplies.
Has a lumber rack which goes over cab, has chrome side steps, and front bumper guard from who knows what kind of vehicle, all of which could be sold as scrap or passed along to someone else to offset a small portion of the restoration cost.

Work Completed that I have found receipts for:

04/22/2010:  Carburetor worked on/replaced, gas tank selector switch not working, so selector switch by passed, so rear tank not working. Water pump, thermostat and gasket replaced.

01/05/2012:  Transmission serviced, flex plate and front seal replaced, and starter replaced.

Work Needed:

Interior is all there but being almost 35 years old it needs to be restored. It still has the original AM radio.

Exterior needs very minor body work. There is a small dent in the passenger door just below the window near the mirror. And another small dent to right front fender near front bumper.  Also a small dent in center of tailgate above the handle. The previous owner stacked cardboard boxes on the roof and they have damaged it. The tops of the bed rails have a few drill holes probably from a tool box at some point.

The Heater core is by passed so I would presume the heater core needs replaced.

A/C appears that all the parts are there, pulleys turn freely, but no belt and unknown what work needs to be done on it.

Rear gas tank  needs to be checked out, possibly needs to replace the fuel pump and/or tank selector switch.

Bumpers: the rear has a minor twist but can be straightened, the front has a crease and is bent.

Rust: Almost rust free, very little rust around pop out windows, all appears to be surface rust.

Tailgate: Needs some work as it does not open and close correctly, and handle is broken. Typical small, cheap internal parts I'm sure.

Side mirrors: both need to be replaced.

These trucks are becoming extremely popular and are affordable options compared to the sky rocketing prices of the Chevy C10 trucks of the same vintage.

If this listing is still up the truck is still for sale, however I will be listing it on a few other sites as well so I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime.

The truck is in Fullerton, California.

If you have any questions, would like to test drive the truck or need more pictures please simply email me through ebay and I would be more than happy to help.

Ford and Chrysler reducing summer plant shutdowns

Wed, 22 May 2013

Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.

Ford Mustang 50th anniversary edition brings in $170k

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Just the other day, we reported on the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat selling for a whopping $825,000 at auction. But impressive as that sum was, the Challenger wasn't the only sought-after modern muscle car to cross the Barrett-Jackson auction block in Las Vegas this past weekend. So did this rare Ford Mustang.
The last of 1,964 special-edition 50 Years Limited Edition pony cars sold for a princely $170,000, with proceeds benefiting the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute, a branch of the Henry Ford Health System.
The pony car in question is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and upgrades with a performance package and nearly every option on the book, along with a unique appearance package to set it apart in celebration of the Mustang's 50th anniversary. It's available in two exclusive shades - Wimbledon white or Kona blue - with either a manual or automatic transmission. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples were to be built, and this was the last of them.

Ford Focus 1.0-liter Ecoboost to only get manual trans in US

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

Photos of the 2015 Ford Focus leaked earlier today, but now we're able to tell you more details of the global five-door hatchback. Bucking automaker's troubling trend of ditching manual transmissions in favor of automatics, Ford says the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will come only in a six-speed manual in the US, because, well, American drivers aren't as sophisticated as our European brothers and sisters.
Ford didn't come out and say it that way, but it has found American drivers are more prone to complain about automatics in smaller-engine cars, Raj Nair, Ford's group vice president of global product development, said at a press conference last week. The recent JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study backs up Ford's claims, pointing out that drivers are complaining about rough transmission shifts, engine hesitation and lack of power, particularly in small cars. In Europe and other parts of the world, drivers seem to understand the quirks of these pint-sized engines, Nair said, so they'll have the option to buy an automatic. Ford is working on tuning its dual-clutch transmissions to make them more amenable to American driver's tastes.
Ford will show off the refreshed 2015 Focus at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The car is due for an update, having been on sale in its current form since 2012. The automaker said it is jamming the car full of new technology - like a USB port that promises to charge your phone in half the time as a regular USB port. Features like Sync and a rear back-up camera will come standard. For a more in-depth look at the car, take a look at the full press release.
