I have for sale this week a 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger 4X4 shortbed truck. I have known this truck for many years. The owner recently died and I bought it from the estate. It was parked for two years after his death and I bought it about two years ago. A battery and fresh gas had it back running great. It has 58000 original miles on it and still retains many of the original belts and hoses and clamps. It has the full time front hubs, so the owner removed the front driveshaft to get better fuel economy. I do not have the front shaft, but is easily sourced from a salvage yard. Other than the bed, this truck is in amazing condition with NO RUST on the cab, doors, fenders, or hood. The bed has rust and could be repaired or easily replaced. The floors of the truck still have shiney black paint on them. The door jambs are all excellent with original paint in great condition. This truck has been well cared for all of it's life. The original carb cranks easily with it's properly working choke. This truck is loaded with options as follows: 351 V-8, Automatic transmission, Factory A/C, tilt wheel, cruise control, power steering, power disc brakes, locking inside hood release, dual front shock HD suspension, and the Ranger trim package. I have driven the truck locally and it drives well. Before going on a long trip, I would replace some of the above mentioned original parts. The cab still retains it's original paint so there are no hidden repairs to worry about. this will be a very easy restoration and well worth the effort. You do not see many original Black and Silver color combo trucks. This truck is for sale locally for $3500.00 and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time in the event of a local sale. I am selling this truck as is and the buyer is responsible for transport to it's new home. Don't miss out on this great truck that will be a beauty when done. thanks for looking.

Ford Fusion getting substantial refresh for 2017
Wed, 13 Aug 2014It's only been a couple of years since Ford rolled out the current Fusion, but if these spy shots are anything to go by, it's already planning what appears to be a substantial update for the mid-size sedan.
According to our paparazzi on the ground, the new Fusion is being prepared for launch late in 2016 or early 2017. Although heavily camouflaged to keep it from prying eyes such as ours, it appears that the updated Fusion will tone down the Aston Martin-style grille, ditch the small corner window with revised front side glass and tweak the vehicle's overall shape. But there's more to the new Fusion than a styling adjustment, and our spy photographers have caught a glimpse inside and taken us along.
Apparently the new Fusion is to get a completely overhauled interior with soft-touch surfaces and matte wood trim to make it seem more upscale. There's an all-new rotary gear selector (like you'd find on a Jaguar, for example) hinting at the implementation of a new nine-speed automatic transmission. The prototype appears to be packing the Microsoft SYNC system, suggesting that the new Blackberry QNX system isn't ready quite yet - though that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be ready by the time the new Fusion is.
Ford F-Series Super Duty prototype reduced to smoldering mess of aluminum and steel [UPDATE]
Mon, 04 Aug 2014The most important bit of information you need to know after looking through our high-res gallery of images depicting a prototype 2016 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup truck burning to the ground is that nobody was hurt. There were two engineers inside the vehicle when it caught fire, and both exited to safety.
That's the good news. The bad news is that the truck, which appears to have been testing in Death Valley, appears to be a total loss, minus, of course, whatever information Ford can glean from the conflagration - particularly tracing it back to its root cause. Besides that, we're also expecting the body of the next Super Duty to be hewn from aluminum, as is the case with its smaller brother, the brand-new F-150. Note the little aluminum droppings littering the roadway as apparent proof of that.
Our spy photographers report that it took just 21 minutes for the F-Series Super Duty to burn completely to the ground. The fire appears to have started in the driver-side front wheel well, spreading to engulf the entire front end in three minutes. We can't confirm the source of the blaze, but we're curious if the car's black vinyl cladding, meant to obscure the secrets within, contributed to the fire.
Ford paying $750 million just to close plant in Belgium
Thu, 21 Mar 2013According to a report from Reuters, Ford is shelling out $750 million in a severance deal that will see the automaker close its facility in Genk, Belgium. The automaker reached this deal with the 4,000 hourly workers employed at the plant last week, which means the company will pay out an average of $187,500 per worker.
Ford is still negotiating with the 300 salaried workers at the factory, which currently produces the Mondeo sedan. All told, Ford expects to lose around $2 billion in Europe thanks in no small part to the region's ongoing economic downturn, and two more plants are scheduled to be shut down in Europe this year. The company will log its $750 million payout under "special items" for this quarter.
As you may recall, Ford took a similar path in the US back in 2009 when the domestic market took a spill. Back then, the company shelled out around $50,000 per employee with at least one year of experience, plus either $25,000 toward a new car or an extra cash payment of $20,000. It would seem the cost of closing plants in Belgium is a much harder pill to swallow than in the States...
