This 1954 Ford F100 is a custom built pickup that is fun to drive, and has won many awards and throphys at shows. The truck is painted dark green with Dupont single stage enamel paint. The under side of the body and the frame are painted to match the body, and looks great. The entire frame is boxed, and I don't know if it is an aftermarket frame or custom built, but it shines like the rest of the truck. The front suspension is Chev. Chevelle with power steering. The rear suspension is 4 link 9 inch Ford Diff. with coilovers. I have enjoyed owning this truck, but I have too many projects and no room, so it is time to let someone else enjoy this fun truck.

The truck is an original cab and doors with new bed, rear fenders, and running boards that are metal. The truck has a fiberglass tilt front end that operates with the push of a remote button to open and close with electric accuators. The floor of the bed is Oak with stainless strips, and tubbed. The gas filler door is stainless and in the floor of the bed. The tailgate has hidden latches. The fuel cell and electric fuel pump are located under the bed in the rear. The interior is all new two tone velour bucket seats, new head liner, interior panels and carpet. Tilt steering column, and Auto Meter gauges. There is no radio. The sound of the exhaust is music to me. Great sounding galvanized exhaust system with headers that have been coated by Jet Hot, and carry a lifetime warranty.
The truck has all 4 wheel power disc brakes. The rear diff. is a 1977 Lincoln 9 inch posi unit with 3,50 gear ratio, and 31 spline Strange axles. The transmission is a Saginaw 4 speed. The motor is a 1971 Chev. 454 bored .030 over and equipped with a Comp roller cam and roller lifters, TRW 10-1 compression pistons. The heads are Merlin heads, with a Tunnel Ram intake and two Holley carbs. The motor has over 500 HP. The engine compartment is dressed up with much chrome and billet alum. such as the water pump, power steering pump, alternator, and billet pulleys. The radiator is alum with a custom built stainless polished fan shroud and electric fan in front. The ignition system is Mallory electronic ingition.
The wheels are chrome and painted centers with baby moons. The rear tires are Mickey Thompsons Sportsman 29X15.50-15LT.
This truck is very fast, and drives great. I know someone will enjoy this truck as much as I have. If you have any question, please e-mail me or call me 440-7734250 Chuck. I have this truck listed locally, and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. I do not have a buy it now price, but will consider any offer. If you like, the truck can be seen at any time. Call me and we will arrange it. Thanks

Ford owns Automotive Loyalty Awards, Audi and Subaru are king of conquests

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

Customers are a commodity in the automotive industry, and like any other commodity, automakers trade them back and forth. Only nobody wants to give up their customers - just to keep the ones they have and try to attract others.
That's what the Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards are all about. Every year the industry research body names the automakers, brands and models that manage to keep their customers coming back for more - and attract buyers to switch from other makes. Ford usually does pretty well, but this year it rose above even its own track record.
Not only did Dearborn win the Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer award, but also the Overall Loyalty to Make. Ford also took the African American category, and the F-150 was named the top full-size half-ton pickup in customer loyalty. Ford COO Mark Fields (pictured above) accepted the awards and gave the keynote address at the awards ceremony.

Ford opens the doors on its Swedish rally skunkworks

Fri, 19 Sep 2014

It's always amazing to see how different kinds of racecars are made. Formula One racers are often constructed in modern architectural marvels that hint at some of the cutting-edge technology going into the racing. Conversely, rallying is all about sliding around on a varied course as fast as possible, but it often leaves a vehicle caked in mud. So it makes some sense Olsbergs MSE, or simply (OMSE) rally car shop in Nynashamn, Sweden, shows technological sophistication in a more down-to-earth setting. It builds Ford Fiesta ST racers for Global Rallycross there, and this new video gives viewers a tour through the work.
Former rally driver Andreas Eriksson runs OMSE. These days instead of racing, he and the company's 46 employees are building Ford racers from scratch. A ton of work goes into constructing each one, and according to Eriksson, it takes 400 hours to complete each body. At times, things are so busy that some of the technicians live in the shop in apartments that are on premises. There's even a restaurant to keep them fed. Sadly the dyno room is empty during this visit, though.
By the time OMSE is done, a rallycross car might resemble a Fiesta ST on the outside, but as you see in the video, it's a completely different beast underneath. Check out the work it takes to build one of them, and scroll down to read more about it in the official release.

Ford dealer loses Super Bowl bet, pays $300K to lucky customers [w/video]

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

A Missouri Ford dealership's Super Bowl weekend sale cost it big when the improbable happened. Hutcheson Ford ran a promotion from January 29 to February 1, called the Super Weekend Sale. The gist was, if any customer purchased a vehicle between those dates and either the opening or second-half kickoff of the big game was returned for a touchdown, the dealership would refund the purchase price.
In the dealership's defense, it seemed like a safe bet. According to the mathematicians, there was just a 2.5-percent chance of either half opening with a touchdown return. But that didn't stop Seattle's Percy Harvin from doing his part to ruin Denver's evening, returning the second-half kick for an 87-yard touchdown run. Twelve Hutcheson customers were eligible for refunds thanks to the return, with prices ranging from $10,000 to $55,000, according to Automotive News. The total amount shelled out by the dealership? $300,000.
"At least we're not like that furniture guy that lost $7 million," dealership marketing manager Kathleen Frazier told AN. We think it was a big success." The dealership did take out insurance to cover its losses, meaning the $300K won't come entirely from its pockets.
