Who would like a solid 4 wheel drive vehicle, especially in the midst of this winter?  I am the original owner (non-smoker), purchased it new, and have driven it as my primary vehicle until recently when I purchased a new SUV.

As the pictures show, it is in great shape.  It is an Eddie Bauer model, so it is loaded with amenities.

Issues that I am aware of:
  • As shown in the pics, it has a cracked front windshield (does not affect NJ Inspection, they no longer check anything beside emissions).
  • As shown in the pics, it has that typical Explorer crack in the piece right below the rear window near the Ford symbol (once it happened to me, I see it on a lot of Explorers).
  • Battery is a bit on the weak side, been a rough winter here.
  • Not an issue, just to make you aware: the transmission was replaced @ 106k miles, has been very smooth with no issue since.
I have all of my service records available, with nearly everything being done at my local dealership.  There are no 'service' lights lit on the dash.

Vehicle comes with a clean title, 2 keys & 2 remotes, and a mat to protect the cargo area.

If you need the vehicle shipped to you, please contact me ahead of time.  I have no relation with any shipper, that will be up to you to find a company, but I can assist.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  Winner must send a non-refundable deposit of $250 within 24 hours of auction end, and full payment within 72 hours (please contact me ahead of time if this will be an issue).  Failure of either will cancel your claim to the vehicle and I will either go to the next person on the list or re-list the vehicle (my choice).  Cash preferred.  If payment is made via bank check, I will not release the vehicle until the check clears the bank.  Please understand that some banks will hold other bank's check for up to 2 weeks.

I reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time should it sell locally.

As with any used vehicle, I am not responsible for any repairs needed after the deal is complete.  I have been upfront and honest about my description, and will provide all of the service records I have.  This vehicle is being sold AS IS, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.  The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage.  Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type.  It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgement solely.  The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle.

Ford car-camo artist works his craft on Australia's new Falcon XR8

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Ford is among the kings of concealment when it comes to test cars. On one recent Mustang SVT mule, the automaker went to the extreme of putting baffles over the exhausts to hide how many there were. Sounds like a lot of work, right? In a new video, the Blue Oval has decided to take fans behind the scenes to show them what it takes to camouflage a prototype. In this case the subject was the recently unveiled 2014 Falcon XR8 for Australia.
Ford's prototype build coordinator Down Under has the very appropriate name of Neil Trickey, and it's his job to obfuscate the important bits of test cars to keep them out of spy shooters' camera lenses. Trickey calls his job a "dark art," and he shows off some of the tricks of his trade in the video. It turns out that the fabric we often see on mules is a type of lycra, but his team isn't above getting out a can of spray paint to conceal parts, too.
Scroll down to watch a video about a man who you probably wish could be a little worse at his job.

J Mays' legacy

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

Mays is by far not the first designer to use heritage design cues in his work.
The announcement that J Mays will be leaving his chief creative officer role at Ford Motor Company on January 1 ends a 13-year run in one of the industry's top design roles. While best known for having a hand in reborn classics like the Volkswagen New Beetle, Ford Mustang and Thunderbird (above), Mays' legacy is more complicated and nuanced than being considered the father of what is known as "retrofuturism".

Ford demonstrates Mustang's new Line Lock burnout feature

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

Been saving your pennies for a 2015 Ford Mustang? Put in a few extra shifts or some overtime? Got a great down payment ready? Well, however much you saved for your new pony car, start saving more - you'll need the extra money to spend on tires.
That's because the Mustang will come with a system called Line Lock, which can lock the front brakes electronically, allowing drivers to perform big, dumb, smoky burnouts without moving so much as an inch. It's sort of like launch control, only the average driver might actually use it.
Now, line locks aren't uncommon, particularly in drag racing. Usually, a flip of the switch locks the front brakes. The Mustang, besides offering the system from the factory which is unique in and of itself, looks a bit more involved.
