For sale is a 1997 Ford Explorer (Green). It has 190,006 miles on it, runs good, good for a parts car- due to rust; on the left rear corner of the chassis there is a small area of major rust damage which would require attention. In my opinion, I would not recommend driving it in its current shape until the chassis has been addressed. There is also some rust issues on the rear bumper and running boards. The 4WD works, the transmission shifts well, minor oil leak in engine, the rear driver-side door does not open as well as the tailgate- due to the interior cable snapping. Gauges all work, the interior is in good shape but could use a good cleaning, the front tires were just replaced with new ones and the back tires have some tread on them. The AC doesn't work, it probably needs to be recharged. Overall, I've really enjoyed this vehicle but with the rust issues I've decided to move onto a newer vehicle. To the right person, this could be a good truck if the rust issues are addressed; if not it would make a great parts truck. I'm selling this AS-IS so I recommend you review the pictures carefully. I have plenty of other pictures that are not included in the listing due to ebay fees so, if you're interested, contact me and I will do my best to get them to you as fast as possible. Also, I am selling this locally as well so I reserve the right to take this listing down if it is sold outside of ebay before the listing ends. Thanks!

Ford pulls official support from top-level NHRA teams

Sun, 11 Aug 2013

As the smallest team in the sport, it wasn't really a surprise when Dodge decided to pull out of NASCAR, but Autoweek is reporting that Ford is looking to pull the plug on its professional-level NHRA sponsorships following the 2014 season. With attendance and television ratings down, the article reports that Ford is just backing out of the top series but will remain active in the Sportsman classes of racing, which are geared more toward the grassroots and semi-professional racers.
This means that one of drag racing's biggest names, John Force, will be left looking for new sponsorship after next season. Force, 64, has been with Ford for 17 years, winning 15 championships in that time and winning almost half of all Funny Car events in his Mustang since he started working with Ford in 1997, but after 2014, there could be some big shakeups at John Force Racing.
According to the report, Force would consider is moving over to the Top Fuel dragster series, although he could also move to another manufacturer to remain in the Funny Car series. With Ford on the way out, this leaves just Toyota and Dodge as the remaining active automakers in the highest levels of drag racing.

Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007

Sat, 21 Sep 2013

Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.

2015 Ford Mustang vs. Camaro and Challenger [w/poll]

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

The horsepower wars are tightening among the Detroit Three, as the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger are getting bigger, more powerful, and yes, more fuel efficient.
That came into sharper focus this week as more information was revealed about the most insane Challenger ever - the 707-horsepower Hellcat - followed quickly by Ford's in-depth showcase of the 2015 Mustang in Dearborn.
It's shaping up to be a golden age for enthusiasts, and what's under the hood is becoming more important than ever.
