 This is a 94 Explorer (Eddie Bauer) with under 96,000 original miles. The truck runs and drives great and is very dependable. There are absolutely no fluid leaks, no smoke, no unusual noises. The truck drives and brakes straight. The trans shifts great and also has no leaks at all. 4WD works great and has Warn hubs. Mechanically the truck is in great condition, overall it looks good compared to most 94 explorers that are still alive. The paint is overall fairly good, there are chips, scuffs, small bent area on rear passenger door, scratches etc..but for a 20 year old truck not too bad. There is some rust on the rear drivers side rear fender, there is an ugly area on the passengers side rocker area at back door which was somewhat repaired years ago. (Ugly but easily passes inspection) The rear bumper has seen better days and could use replaced eventually (rust on left side) All of the options work perfectly with the exception of the passenger power mirror will only operate left and right and not up and down. All of the following options work fine: power windows, power door locks, power mirrors (exception of listed above) tilt wheel. cruise control, electric power bucket seats (even the air filled lumbar adjustments), lighted driver and passenger mirrors, manually operated sunroof (no leaks), JVC am/fm cd player with bluetooth and auxiliary "in port" with remote. Good working heater and the a/c works when charged but will only hold for a couple weeks. The carpet is not very worn at all but does have stains etc.. which may clean up somewhat with carpet cleaner. The dash is in great condition, the headliner is in good condition with the exception of some stains (no sagging or tears). The leather bucket seats have a few smaller tears and the drivers has more wear than the passenger side but they are comfortable. The rear seats are in very good condition - (could use a little cleaning). It may have a few ugly spots but is great cheap dependable transportation. This is a no reserve auction. Buyer must pay a $500.00 down payment through Paypal within 72 hrs. of auction end. If you are local I encourage you to come inspect it and give it a test drive. More pictures are available. 2015 Ford F-150 to get 2.7-liter EcoBoost?

As we prepare for the arrival of the all-new, next-generation Ford F-150, rumors about the new truck are picking up steam. Naturally, many of said rumors aren't just related to the way the truck will look (it's expected to take design cues from the Atlas concept shown above), they're tied to what's going to motivate the Blue Oval mainstay, with Ford's EcoBoost range likely to play an increasingly key role. While we're still expecting the current 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 to retain its position as a premium alternative to Ford's naturally aspirated V6 and V8, a Canadian automotive news site is proposing that the Dearborn automaker is also preparing a new, more fuel-efficient downsized EcoBoost option.
Autos.ca is reporting that a new, 2.7-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 could find its way into the lighter, aluminum-intensive truck. The new engine supposedly makes use of asymmetrical turbos to generate 320 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque - substantially more impressive numbers than the current 3.7-liter base engine's 302 ponies and 278 lb-ft - while offering improved fuel economy and emissions. The new 2.7 EcoBoost (internally dubbed "Nano") isn't expected to supplant the naturally aspirated V6 as the F-150's base engine, it's expected to slot in above directly it.
Naturally, we're prescribing more than a few grains of salt to go with these rumors, at least until Ford debuts the next F-150 at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, a reveal we'll be covering in a mere two weeks.

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. Ford updates Power Stroke diesel V8, strengthens F-450, tweaks King Ranch

Ford is giving its F-Series Super Duty trucks some upgrades for 2015, and we're happy to say that one of them is an improved Power Stroke diesel V8. Also, Ford is strengthening the top-of-the-line F-450 to handle more abuse. And if wild west-style luxury is your thing, the automaker has performed minor cosmetic updates to its King Ranch Edition trucks, as well.
The turbocharged 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 is currently rated at 400 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque, and Ford only tells us the new and improved Power Stroke can "produce power beyond today's" engine. What, then, did Ford actually improve upon? First, the Blue Oval swapped in a new, larger turbocharger. The new Garrett GT37 turbine unit is 72.5 millimeters in diameter, eclipsing the old GT32's 64-mm diameter piece. Ford states output increases with the new turbo setup, but since the new turbocharger operates at a lower peak pressure than the old one, the automaker was able to eliminate the wastegate system and reduce the engine's complexity. Ford even redesigned the turbo's oil and cooling lines to make the powerplant simpler. A byproduct of the larger turbo is better engine exhaust braking, which is controlled manually by a button on the dashboard.
Ford claims the upgraded diesel engine is more powerful, more robust, more efficient and more refined than before.
