We at Campbell Brothers Auto Sales Inc. are offering for sale this 2003 FORD EXPLORER SPORT TRAC XLT with a 4.0L V6 and AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. We purchased this vehicle as a lease trade in and it is in need of engine repair. This vehicle runs and drives however it does have a significant engine rattle. The timing chain is considerably loose or worn and is rubbing against the cover. That is what we can visually see and hear however we have not had it diagnosed by a professional to know if there are any other engine issues. Therefore to be safe we are selling this vehicle TO BE IN NEED OF ENGINE REPAIR. With all of that being said this vehicle was just driven over 2 1/2 hours to the leasing location in which we picked it up. Would we recommend driving it on another long trip, no. Right now it runs and drives and you would not want to risk further engine damage. The body is in fair condition. Yes, it has dings, chips, and scratches but overall looks pretty good. The interior is fair as well. There is a small tear on the drivers seat and the and the upholstery needs clean but with a little time the interior should clean up well. Once this vehicle is repaired it has the potential to make someone a nice profit or an inexpensive Sport Trac. If you have the mechanical repair ability or a friend that does this maybe the truck for you. Take advantage of this NO RESERVE auction and own a cheap Sport Trac!  This 2003 Sport Trac comes equip with many nice features and options which include...

CONDITION

EXTERIOR: It is an 11 year old vehicle with 219,057 miles. It has dings, scratches, and chips in the paint. Also, the right front bumper cover has a chip in it, both tail lights are cracked, wheels are oxidized, and there are scratches on the rear of the cab that will not buff out. With a good detailing this vehicle will look good but it will never look new.

INTERIOR:   drivers seat has a tear and the center console is broken. There again, after a good detail it will clean up well.

DRIVE TRAIN: The engine starts and runs but has a rattle. We would not recommend driving it a far distance. The tires have about 50% tread. Once again... THIS VEHICLE IS IN NEED OF ENGINE REPAIR.

2015 Ford F-150 appearance guide takes the truck from mild to wild with options

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

We already know that the 2015 Ford F-150 has a base price coming in at just $395 more than the 2014 model, despite all of the new standard tech and aluminum-intensive construction in the upcoming version. Now the Blue Oval is finally giving us an idea of what that extra money actually buys customers, with the release of the appearance guide for its latest pickup.
The guide basically explains everything you could want to know about what changes occur among the multitude of trims on the 2015 F-150. There are five levels for the new truck. Although, that is something of a misnomer because most of them are also available with either Sport or Chrome packages, plus the FX4 Off-Road option with Hill Descent Control, an electronic-locking rear axle, off-road shocks and skid plates. With 13 available colors, including 4 new ones, and 14 wheel designs in various sizes, pickup buyers should have no problem specing one to fit their style.
The lineup starts out with the base XL with a black grille and fascia and 17-inch wheels. However, across most of the range the Sport and Chrome packages are also available to add either body-color or chrome accents, respectively. Next up is the XLT with a standard chrome grille but also available with a black, billet-style one with a body-color surround. Things really start getting plush with the Lariat model with leather trim, a three-bar front end and 18-inch wheels. The King Ranch sticks with that look but adds power running boards, 20-inch wheels and two-tone paint. Finally, the top-dog Platinum is all about bling with yet another frontal design, chrome door handles and mirror caps, a big logo running across the tailgate and more.

Ford using robot drivers to test durability [w/video]

Sun, 16 Jun 2013

In testing the durability of its upcoming fullsize Transit vans, Ford has begun using autonomous robotic technology to pilot vehicles through the punishing courses of its Michigan Proving Grounds test facility. The autonomous tech allows Ford to run more durability tests in a single day than it could with human drivers, as well as create even more challenging tests that wouldn't be safe to run with a human behind the wheel.
The technology being used was developed by Utah-based Autonomous Solutions, and isn't quite like the totally autonomous vehicles being developed by companies like Google and Audi for use out in the real world. Rather, Ford's autonomous test vehicles follow a pre-programmed course and their position is tracked via GPS and cameras that are being monitored from a central control room. Though the route is predetermined, the robotic control module operates the steering, acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle on course as it drives over broken concrete, cobblestones, metal grates, rough gravel, mud pits and oversize speed bumps.
Scroll down to watch the robotic drivers in action, though be warned that you're headed for disappointment if you expect to see a Centurion behind the wheel (nerd alert!). The setup looks more like a Mythbusters experiment than a scene from Battlestar Galactica.

Watch Ken Block's scary Rally America crash from inside the cockpit

Wed, 19 Feb 2014

Ken Block became famous for his series of Gymkhana videos, but he's a real racer in his own right. Block has competed many rounds in the FIA World Rally Championship and also rallied in the 2013 Rally America series. He nearly won that latter title last year - if not for a massive crash in the final event of the season.
Block and his co-driver Alex Gelsomino went into the Lake Superior Performance Rally needing a win to take the championship. However, missing a clump of dirt on the side of the road and one little word in the pace notes was all it took to catapult Block's Fiesta off the road and into a tumbling accident. Block says his initial reaction was anger because the crash came out of nowhere.
For 2014, Block is joining the FIA World Rallycross Championship for at least three rounds. He'll drive a Ford Fiesta for the Hoonigan Racing Division at the Norwegian, French and Turkish events of the 12-round championship. Former Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve will also compete in the series.
